She knows the right spots

Ella is a silicone dildo designed for g-spot stimulation, and works very well at what she was designed for. She features both a flat wide end and a tapered end for different types of stimulation. Her size is great for both beginners and advanced users.

Use

Ella is designed for pinpoint g-spot stimulation and she performs very well (others before me have praised her in their reviews!). Her flat end provides continuous pressure while the other end can be used for regular thrusting or angled to provide a different kind of stimulation for the g-spot. She is a toy for a variety of users because she is easy to use and she works well for finding your g-spot and seeing what type of stimulation you enjoy or for applying firm pressure when this is what you already know you desire. Since Ella is made of silicone there is less of a chance for injury due to rapid thrusting, so I think this would also work well for couples play. The only type of play Ella isn't recommended for is anal play because there is not a sufficient base to protect against it slipping too far inside.

Material / Texture

This is the smoothest silicone toy I have ever felt! I could not stop stroking it when I first took it out of the package! There is almost no drag with this silicone, which is nice because the Ella glides in with little additional lubricant (sometimes I don't require additional lube at all). The smooth texture works very well for sliding Ella along the g-spot.

The silicone is very firm which works well for g-spot stimulation; however there is still a little bit of flexibility in the neck of the flat end so that one can angle Ella is various ways.

I found that there was a slight smell to Ella when I first removed her from the package, but this may be from the box as opposed to the toy itself. There is no taste, as silicone is hypoallergenic, phthalate free, and safe for all users.
    • Smooth; slightly flexible

Design / Shape / Size

Ella measures 7 inches in total length with 5 inches being insertable. She has a diameter of 1 1/4 inches and a circumference of 4 inches, so she is a great size for beginners and will also be enjoyed by more advanced users due to her unique shape. Ella is very light weight at under half a pound so she can be used for long periods of time without getting tired and is easy to take any where.

Ella is double ended with a flat area for a wider area of direct g-spot stimulation, and a tapered end for traditional use or that can be angled (depending on body shape) for a different kind of g-spot stimulation. This is a very effective design for targeting g-spot locations in different anatomies. Some may find that the wide, flat end catches on their pubic bone during thrusting, but I did not have this problem when using Ella.

Ella is not realistic in appearance and if placed so with the flat end on a surface of a table, might even look like interesting art. This of course only works if you don't have people over who are familiar with sex toys.

Performance

My favorite thing about Ella is the flat end that provides very direct g-spot stimulation. I really enjoy intense g-spot stimulation and was able to get this while using Ella! I also liked the different sensations that Ella provided when I used the other side. This was more subtle g-spot stimulation, but still was pleasurable. I do enjoy Ella a lot, but I have not had an "amazing" experience with her as of yet. I have been using her for a while, but there still may be some tricks that I am unaware of.
    • Comfortable
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

Since the Ella is made out of silicone, cleaning and care are very simple. I simply wash her in warm water and anti-bacterial soap before and after each use. This type of silicone does not seem to pick up dust/lint/hair easily, which is a giant plus! Ella can also be boiled or cleaned with a 10% bleach solution to sanitize. The only problem I have with cleaning is that sometimes stuff gets in the Lelo logo that is near the tapered end of the toy and this can be hard to remove.

Ella should only be used with water-based lubes so that the surface of the toy does not become damaged (as can happen if you use silicone or oil based lubricants).
I store Ella in the satin bag that she came with.

    • Easy to store

Packaging

Ella comes packaged in a classy Lelo box that has a picture of Ella and is color coordinated with the toy (in my case I got the deep rose color). Inside this box is a black box with "Lelo" written on it that contains a molded black plastic insert with Ella nestled inside. Under this insert you will find an instruction manual, a satin storage bag, information on Lelo's one year warranty, and information on Lelo's 10 year guarantee. If you take the outer cardboard box with the picture, then I think this box is both nice enough and discreet enough to be used for gift giving. The box also works well for storage, but I find it easier to store Ella in the included bag.
    • Good for storage; discreet if cardboard part is removed

Personal comments

Overall, I really enjoy Ella as a g-spot toy. She has performed well each time I have used her, however there were a few times when things didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. I have had this toy for about a month and am still continuing to use her in varying ways to find new ways to stimulate my g-spot. I have yet to be able to squirt, and this is one of my goals for the future that I hope Ella will help me with.

Experience

The first time that I used Ella, I used her flat head to massage my clitoris for a different kind of warm-up. I like that I can cover more surface area with this end and this feels better than many types of direct stimulation on a smaller area.
Follow-up commentary
I still really enjoy using the Ella from time to time because it is easy to locate and stimulate my g-spot with this toy. I do have to say that I do not use Ella as much as I used to, simply because I have a lot of g-spot toys that work well for me and sometimes Ella feels a bit too thin for me. However, I still like it and recommend it for those looking for a good g-spot toy.

Thanks for the review. Like you, I find her so-so. I'll still use her from time to time, but my Betty's Barbell just does it better.

@EJ- I haven't used Ella in a while, but it is because I have so many other g-spot toys that are better. I was expecting magic from all of the reviews that I had read. Thanks for reading my review.

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

I have not tried anything like that I hear alot of good things and alot of not so good things. its up to you to try and see what you prefer..

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
    • i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
