A Serious Set of Lady-Balls

While of superior design and construction, I found the Tenuo Duo possibly too large to exercise my pelvic floor effectively. It may do just fine for women on the upside of average size, or women looking to strengthen their pelvic floor after giving birth, but it is just too big for me to be effective.

Pros:
Superior materials, linked together, easy insertion and removal
Cons:
A little on the big side, pushes on the urethra.

extremely useful review
One night, while sitting with Boyfriend and a friend of ours, we got onto the topic of ben-wa balls. Our friend talked of her set of ben-wa balls and asked if I had ever tried them. The answer was no, and she recommended them. I set about looking for a good set of ben-wa balls. I wanted something that would be easy to clean and keep track of. This lead me to the Tenuo Duo, by Fun Factory.

They arrived in a small silver and red box, with a magnetic flip-open cover that spoke of it's features in a multitude of languages. I opened it up and pulled the contents out to have a gander at. Inside was an instruction booklet, another little booklet detailing other toys in Fun Factory's line-up, a little sampler of water-based Toy Fluid (Fun Factory's own lube), and a pink and white set of the Tenuo Duo.

I was actually surprised with the size of them at first. They are not small, by any means. Each "ball" is about the size of a ping-pong ball, covered in Fun Factory's fine silicone in white and pink. The surface of the Duo is swirled and textured, and linked in the middle by a small strip of silicone. The toy is polished off with a loop several inches long to retrieve the toy with. I shook the toy a little, finding that there are ball-bearing on the inside that rattle as the toy moves. The nest step, naturally, is to shove the thing into my girl-bits.

I went into the bathroom with my water based lube, as silicone lube is a no-no for silicone toys, and dropped my drawers. I applied a couple drops of lube to my vagina, then another couple drops to the end of the toy. I found it far easier to insert the toy with one foot up on the sink. I popped the first ball in, but found a little resistance on the second one. An additional drop of water-based lube on the second ball was just what it needed. I pushed the second one in, which is made easier by the indentation on the end of the toy, designed to help the process along.

Now, it was a little difficult. I'm not small on the inside, I'd peg myself at average, but the balls seemed crowded in there. I had to maneuver them a little bit to sit comfortably behind my pubic bone, but one they were in, I couldn't tell they were there. I then left my domicile to go shopping.

Walking around, I still couldn't feel them. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but I couldn't feel the little ball bearings bounce around inside of the toy. I even jumped up and down a few times, but nope, still can't feel the rocking motion of the toy. I often caught myself clenching around them reflexively, which exercises my pelvic floor, as it was designed. Peeing was an interesting experience. It felt kind of weird to pee, because the balls must have been pushing on my urethra. It felt like I could not completely empty my bladder with them in, and the pee would run down the string. So I would personally recommend removing the Tenuo Duo before using the bathroom.

Washing the Tenuo Duo is a breeze. Simply pull them out (or push them out) and give them a good rinse under water. Some mild soap can give it a really good cleaning, along with a soft toothbrush if you are really worried about getting it clean. They dry nicely and do not pick up much lint, which tends to be a problem for a lot of silicone toys.

After wearing them constantly for a couple weeks, I asked if Boyfriend could feel any difference in terms of tightness. He said both yes and no. Sometimes he couldn't tell the difference, but a couple times I was tight as a Chinese finger-trap. As for me, I found no additional benefits, other than cheeky amusement of walking around with balls in my panties. No stronger orgasms. No sudden new-found squirting abilities. No man-trap between my legs. I just didn't see any change.

I appreciate the Tenuo Duo for it's design because you cannot lose one. They are firmly attached together, and there will never be a day when you are disappointed to find that your set is missing a piece. It's extremely easy to clean and insertion is far from difficult. Yet I have considered investing in a smaller set of ben-wa balls to more effectively exercise my vag-muscles, because I feel that the Tenuo Duo is just a touch too big for me. This toy may be too big for girls on the tighter side.

  • Have you tried these or something similar?
    • I'm curious to hear about how long (daily and over the long term) you wore them, and what the results were. Could you tell a difference?

I'll be interested to hear people's responses to this. My understanding is that they can be worn all day. But when I try to wear any toy for a prolonged period of time (more than 1 hours) I find that I get dry and the toy gets uncomfortable and I have to take it out.

As for telling a difference: I try to remember to do some Kegel exercises a few times a day, and I've noticed a difference since I started. Since these toys are a Kegel exerciser, I assume that if they do what they're meant to do, then yes, you would be able to tell a difference. These are at the top of my wishlist right now. Maybe I'll get them soon and I'll be able to give you an answer myself!
    • never tried them. Looks cool though

  • Choosing The Right Ben Wa Balls For Your Anatomy
    • So, this is a general question for all the women out there. I recently purchased Fun Factory's Smart balls Teneo Duo and they're my first set of ben wa balls. I spent quite some time analyzing the different types of ben wa balls and felt comfortable enough purchasing the ones from Fun Factory after the great reviews. Now that I've gotten them and tried them a few times, I'm sort of disappointed and left wondering if I'm doing something wrong (since many others seem to love them).

For me, the balls are very cumbersome to insert. The product isn't huge by any means. I own vibrators with a larger circumference than the Teneo Duo. Yet, everytime I've struggled to insert them (even with lube). Additionally, I can't feel any vibrations or movement. I know they're not necessarily supposed to be arousing. But, I literally can't feel anything. While, when I hold them in my hand and move them slightly, I can feel the movement without a problem. So. I'm looking for advice from any women out there.

Should I have started with smaller sized ben wa balls? Does the material of the balls make a difference in sensation (metal vs. silicone)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have both the original Smartballs and the Teneo Duo. I can offer some personal insight into one of your problems, and will take a stab in the dark at the other.

First, as to insertion, my stab in the dark is: are you using lube and inserting the balls one by one? This toy needs lubricant, as its silioone creates a lot of friction and "drag." I swab some lube on the top half of the first ball, and a little around the neck of the second. I also find the finger insertion grip to be useless for the first ball. You have to hold the first ball on its own and pop it in there, then use the finger grip for the second.

As to the vibrations, my personal experience is that I didn't feel them at all when I first started using the smartballs, but the sensation improved as my grip did. I didn't find that the vibrations stimulated involuntary muscle contractions or gave me a passive workout out of the box. I had to use them for a couple of weeks and do a lot of deliberate squeezing before the process got more automatic.

Your mileage may vary, as everyone's anatomy is different, but my advice would be to give it a couple of weeks of daily wear and see whether your opinion changes. I love mine now and feel that they provide a PC muscle workout that is superior to kegel exercises sans equipment.

      Hope this helps.

So the sensation improves over time? I've never been impressed by any balls, because I can't feel them. I think I'll take your advice and try to get some regular use out of mine so maybe I can see what all the fuss is about.

  • What's the difference
    • Between the Smartballs Teneo duo and the regular Smartballs
    • Quote: Between the Smartballs Teneo duo and the regular Smartballs
The regular smart balls are smaller in diameter and circumference. So pick which one you think would be more comfortable for you.
    • The Teneo Duo are also made out of silicone, while the regular Smartballs are made of Elastomed.
