To say we've searched long and hard for 'the perfect lube' would be an understatement. There's hardly a lube we haven't tried, from the free samples that come with so many toys to the grocery store brands to the high-dollar options available here and elsewhere.
Let me start by saying we've always dreamt of a world where one lube does it all. We love silicone-based lubes for their natural feel and lasting effect, but of course prefer not to use them on our toys. Water-based lubes, historically, haven't met our needs but have been required to enjoy (and continue to enjoy) our play things, which get a pretty heavy work out from both of us.
Our good friends, knowing well our perpetual quest for a better lube, suggested Liquid Silk to us; we were pretty skeptical at first. For starters, it's water-based and we just couldn't believe a water-based lube could rock our world. But at the insistence of our friends we tried it.
I'm happy to say our quest for the best lube has ended.
Liquid silk feels amazing, be it for intercourse, toys, or a hand job, it's as good (or better) than any silicone-based lube we've ever used and it's toy friendly which means one bottle does it all. It's great for anal play for either of us and helps speed things along in that department. It never gets sticky and smells fine (though some have noted an unpleasant taste, I suppose it's not that unpleasant to us) and washes off easily.
We liked it so much we ordered another bottle to have one handy at each side of the bed.

Experience
The first time we used it, we also tried out a new toy we got at the same time, which was a substantially large dildo (the largest my wife had used to that point). We were both a little nervous, but within moments we knew Liquid Silk was the real deal. After a few minutes of fingering her to warm her up, she was able to handle that nice large dildo with ease, and boy did she enjoy it. Thanks to Liquid Silk there was no rubbing, no discomfort, just that nice full feeling she's come to enjoy so much ever since. I dare say we could not have done this once, let alone over and over, with any other water-based lube we have tried.

Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys

So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(
