My husband and I are currently viewing a couple of clips on a tube site, and one of the actors in that particular segment spit on the clit of the woman he was going down on...

I grimaced. He in turn replied that maybe in some sort of effort to remain mostly sanitary in the scene, the man spit instead of the woman licking her fingers and spreading it on herself. It makes sense to me, not knowing what she may have touched or what he may have touched before they started the scene.

What's your take? Is spitting more sanitary than either party licking their fingers and spreading their saliva for lubrication?

Well I'm sure a woman's own saliva would be safer for her than someone else's, first of all. But it seems like you're more talking about the hands issue. Unless the woman has had her hands up an ass or something prior to licking them, I don't think it would make a huge difference. Also, if the guy was going down on the woman... why didn't he just lick her some more? Perhaps I'm picturing this wrong. LoL.

Anyway - I think spitting is just a trend. I don't recall seeing it in porn I saw years ago. I saw a video recently where a guy spit on a woman when there was lube right next to them that they had used previously. And in my own sex life spitting has never been necessary. I little saliva subtly placed on the hand, yeah... rarely. But spitting? Nope.

Really, I couldn't care less unless it's involved in my own intimacy. I do not care what people in porn do or do not do. Doesn't concern me and since my partner and I don't watch it, it doesn't affect us. Now if it's during our own intimacy, I wouldn't care if he spit on mine unless it was a big loogy or a lot of spit. He licks his finger sometimes to make it slippery. If it's spitting in a disrespectful way then no, not gonna happen!

Unless the person previously stuck their fingers in an anus, I don't see how spitting is realistically more sanitary. I think it's just for effect in porn. Besides, if you're going down to perform oral, why exactly do you even need to spit? Isn't there already saliva on your tongue?

I don't see how it could be more sanitary. The couple kisses, right? Plus his mouth will be on her anyway. She's not going to avoid his saliva by using her own for that small purpose.

I'm not a fan of spitting at all. As far as it's hygienic qualities, I have to imagine that it's just as cleanly as doing down on some one.

Spitting seems like a huge-turn off and if he's going down on her anyway, why spit? The tongue is completely capable of spreading saliva around.

Its just for show. I do it sometimes when I am either feeling really naughty-bad or if I'm giving a bj and irritated... We have done some show stuff at parties where we pretend to not know each other and the real bad boy bad girl comes out...
