I'm curious about electrical play. Tens Units, violet wands and the like. I'm not sure where to begin. Does it hurt? If so, how much? What are precautions to think about? Where does one get supplies?

I have a Tens unit I use for neck pain, but it can be fun to use during forced orgasm or other play.
Violet wands are a lot of fun but very expensive. they can hurt if you set it high enough (they're powerful enough to brand someone). They also can be used more sensually or for tickling.
Edit: Doctor Clockwork is a good place to get violet wand supplies. Violet wands are expensive, so you may want to see about attending an electro play demo before buying.
With Tens Units, make sure not to put the electrodes on/near the heart.

Wow, electric play seems so scary to me! I would be willing to try it, if my partner knew what he was doing and was into it, but gosh I can't imagine going into it as a newbie. Did you ever try it?

It feels like a sunburn. The further away it is from you, the more it "hurts"/burns. That being said, it through clothes hurts, from what I remember. Having it touch you doesn't hurt at all
