Light BDSM Erotica Suggestions

Contributor: - Kira - - Kira -
My husband and I were talking yesterday about a conversation he had at work. Most of his coworkers know we are 24/7 M/s, though they don't really fully get what that means. One day a coworker pulled him to the side and said he'd like to get his wife into BDSM. He wanted to know what books she could read that aren't manuals but will plant the seed in her head. Since I don't really read erotica and stick to the manuals, I didn't have a suggestion. I think handing her a manual would be too in your face for what he's trying to do.

Does anyone have suggestions on some light reading with BDSM undercurrents? Not 50 Shades please. Something that has a more accurate portrayal of BDSM, or at least seems like the writer knew what s/he is talking about.

It's not much of an accurate portrayal of real life D/s and it's kind of fanciful where the BDSM stuff is concerned. They do some things in it that i think would probably be anatomically impossible. But i really enjoyed A.N. Roquelaure's (aka Anne Rice) Sleeping Beauty trilogy. It's not perfect, but a far cry better than 50 Shades. i'm currently reading Kushiel's Dart by Jaqueline Carey. It could easily be read without even noticing the BDSM elements, they're somewhat glossed over and it's not exactly erotica. It's got some veiled masochism, sexual slavery, and some other BDSM stuff woven into a story that's really about intrique and mystery and things. But the SM undercurrent is there. Other than that, i'm sadly not much help.

I also suggest the Carey books. Perhaps even read those before the beauty trilogy.
