How does one find a BDSM mentor?

Contributor: Miss Lissy Miss Lissy
Soooo....how does one find a mentor? I'm kinda new at the whole BDSM thing and I want to learn more. I've been hiding it for so long and I'm sick of it, so I've decided to embrace my odd sexual tendencies.

A mentor for reviews or a mentor for bdsm?

You can find the mentor program in your dashboard. You are going to want to check out the mentors to find one who has knowledge about BDSM. I can think of one off the top of my head. Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

Check your area for BDSM clubs and organizations. Many areas have a BDSM community. Munches are a good place to meet people, but they are not intended as a "hook-up" meet, and are pretty PG during (they are often held at public restaurants and stuff). But they are great for mentoring. Finally, some areas have classes! They're a great place to get started. There are even BDSM Conventions!

Just be careful, okay? There are some great people on Fet but I've also met a bunch of not-so-great ones. xx

Yeah I will, I know firsthand what kind of *ahem* interesting people the internet can cough up if you don't apply common sense.

I think that "mentor" or "protector" can sometimes be a confusing relationship for bdsm newbies. Don't underestimate the vulnerability and intimacy of revealing your true desires, asking questions you've been afraid to voice or even light scene-ing/learning what you like or a safe escort/guide to mind-boggling events.

It takes clear honest communication about your expectations and boundaries. Predators sometimes offer "education" as a shortcut, they can then bypass the interview questions/qualificatio ns you would demand from a lover or dominant.

When you go to a munch or public party, if an organizer says "Oh you're really into OTK (over the knee) spanking, you should meet Bob. He literally wrote the book."
