Do you read books on BDSM practices and safety?

Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns gets recommended a lot. The Ultimate Guide to Kink just came out recently and is a good read.

I second The Ultimate Guide to Kink. I bought it because you gave it a thumbs up and I think it's excellent. A lot of it is new to me, and some of the information I may never use, but it has solid educational value.

Yay! Glad you liked it! Some of it I'll never use either, but I still enjoyed reading those bits.

I learned all my rope work from the knotty boys. Back on the ropes I think is the one I use. Whatever their newest and colour book is. I have read some of screw me the roses, Jay Weisermans's book was good too. I find I dont read entire books though. I read sections on what I am doing (so rope bondage, or bondage with restraints, etc.) When I buy a flogger then I will read sections on that. I also find the internet is just a great source. I visit some boards where people are very knowledgeable and have great advice.

I really wish I had a regular partner to do BDSM with, then I'd have reason to read books and such. :/

I love reading books on BDSM Practices, I have read Screw the Roses and SM 101. Also the Loving Dominant was a really good one. I am currently reading Wild Side Sex: The Book of Kink by Midori at the moment. My introduction to BDSM was through books and for me other then actual play (which I don't get a lot) its my way of keeping up with learning more about different facets of it.

It's always good to be safe. I've read up on BDSM safety before.

very interested

I'd love to read some informative books on the technical aspects of BDSM (etiquette, ties, etc) but I don't know where to begin...

Screw The Roses is an awesome book. Also, SM 101 is a favorite of mine, too. I love The Submissive's Activity Book, which is a workbook that helps submissives come up with their submission style. For rope bondage, you can't go wrong with a Two Knotty Boys book.

The New Topping/Bottoming Books, by Janet Hardy and Dossie Easton, are also quite good. They don't provide any technical instructions on how to hold a flogger, how to make certain knots, or anything along those lines, but they do give excellent information and reference for the in-scene interactions between the top and the bottom. The Toy Bag Guides by Greenery Press are very useful, as well; when necessary, they can even help bridge the gap from vanilla to kinky. (My primary used to have an intense fear of anything sharp, but after reading the Toy Bag Guide to Erotic Knifeplay and the New Topping Book, he learned how to be a wonderful top, knifeplay or otherwise. )

I haven't but I am curious. I would definitely want to know about all the safety issues/precautions involved. I cannot see myself doing the more hardcore bondage play, but I think mild exploration would be lots of fun!

Two Knotty Boys! Their book is currently out of stock on Eden but I recommend anything they write/teach. They just retired : ( Miss em!!

I found The New Topping/Bottoming Books to be immensely helpful. I'm hoping to check out the Ultimate guide to kink soon!

I'm a bookworm - I have the New Topping and Bottoming Books and enjoy them greatly, and I'd love to expand my BDSM info library.

I own the SM101 book and loved reading it. :]
