Rope, not only does it leave lovely (yet temporary) marks, it feels good on my skin and can turn into a work of art. And rope always makes me happy

For us, it depends on the session. Handcuffs are fun sometimes because they can be so harsh and leave marks. They're also really quick.
Rope is maybe the sexiest to us, and my wife likes that it doesn't leave marks when I tie her up. It's slow, but sometimes that helps create a delicious sense of anticipation.
Most of the time, we use leather cuffs. They're sort of a happy medium between handcuffs and rope. Not quite as quick as handcuffs, but much quicker than rope; not quite as gentle as rope, but much gentler than handcuffs.
