it definitely all depends on what kind of pain and where it's inflicted. Like I like being bitten and scratched and whipped flogged blah blah and I'm in to knifeplay but the level of eroticism all depends on where the pain is placed- for instance an instant turn off is my feet even if the pain is something I find enjoyable elsewhere.

It depends entirely on how much I'm receiving, and who is dishing it out. I only have a moderate level of tolerance before it stops being a good hurt, and just hurts. The only person I trust enough to enjoy myself with that way is my partner.
And since it's been brought up - love, love marks left behind. I like the little twinges I get hours (or days!) later, and have a tendency to poke at non-bdsm related bruises and scrapes as well.

I'm a total pain slut but I find that if I'm not properly prepped or if I'm too sensitive from other sensations sometimes pain can be a little overwhelming. GREAT. But overwhelming. Sometimes I need to call breaks but GENERALLY I love it. A surprise spanking or pinch/bite to the neck can turn me on pretty much instantly.

i don't get turned on by stubbing my toe or having my eyebrows waxed or getting shots at the doctor's. i do get turned on by the blossom of pain after a cane stroke or the snap of tails on a flogger or the thud of a paddle. i think cutting, burning and/or needles might be types of pain i could learn to be aroused by, though i haven't been brave enough to try yet. i attended a seminar where a woman with incredible pain processing skills said that pain, without the fear or shame that normally accompanies it, is merely intense sensation. When viewed this way, my reaction to pain in the proper context makes sense, even though other types of pain don't evoke arousal for me. And i do love being marked and i love the soreness and tenderness that linger the day after a good beating. Sitting on bruises and welts from a caning or paddling or having them rubbing against my clothing will keep me in a perpetual state of arousal for as long as they can still be felt, several days sometimes.
