What aspect of BDSM would you like to learn more about?

Contributor: Gdom Gdom
If you had to pick, what one aspect of BDSM play, toys, or safety would you really like to learn more about? It could be anything from "Is breath play safe?" to "What are the dangers involved in bruising and how can you best avoid them?" or anything else you can think of.

I'd love to learn more about whips. I've always been utterly fascinated by then, but until recently, I never actually owned one. So, if there is one aspect of BDSM that I'd greatly enjoy knowing more of, it's that.

Of all the things I would want to learn more about I would have to say that would be the Leather Culture. I have bits and pieces of knowledge regarding Leather but I would love to learn more about the history and roots of Leather.

Relationship, family and household dynamics have always been one of the most fascinating concepts of BDSM to me and it's what i tend to focus on the most in my study of BDSM. The long-term 24/7 relationships, the ones that last 10, 20, 30 years in a D/s or M/s dynamic and the larger families and households are of chief interest. i'm always most interested in learning about the aspects of emotional and mental safety in BDSM. In learning BDSM we tend to focus so much on physical safety and learning not to hurt someone physically is important, of course. But, in general, with obvious severe exceptions of permanent injury or death, physical wounds like cuts and bruises and burns will heal much more easily than emotional, mental, psychological ones and there are salves, creams, medicines, ice packs and heating pads and things we can do for the physical pain. If it's really serious, we can go to a doctor, but it's not as easy to treat the non-physical injuries. And a physical scar (at least an undesired, unintentional or non-consensual one) will often be accompanied by a non-physical scar that will probably be much more damaging in the long run. Hurt feelings, broken hearts, severed trust, bruised egos, insecurities, injured psyches. How do we avoid them and how to we treat them? Not even delving into the significant concern of abuse, but simply accidentally or incidentally hurting someone as humans are wont to do even in vanilla scenarios but to which we open ourselves even more fully in BDSM. These are the aspects of BDSM i'd like to learn the most about: successful long-term, serious relationships and how to play safely with hearts and minds and psyches as well as bodies.
For the more fun stuff, the next things on my list are cell popping and fire cupping and other forms of heat and fire play.

I recommend looking up the "Knotty Boys" on youtube, or getting their books. I enjoy the way they explain things, and they go anywhere from beginner (just learning basic knots) to fancy (incorporating those knots into a harness.)

Hope that helped!

The Japanese rope bondage. I think that would be great to actually learn how to make all those knots to use at my own leisure.

Domination.
I want to dom someone so badly... at least try it out see how it goes ; or learn the ropes hardcore to see if it's something i'd really be interested in introducing to a relationship.

I'd like to find out how ball gags work out (or if they're even in BDSM). I know about people having Safe Words, but I'm curious as to how they would communicate "STOP" if they're gagged.

Ropes and suspension, without a doubt. I live the artistic flavor of well-done ropes.

I'm the same way. There's something so fascinating about "sub space" and all the other different kinds of altered states. I'm a psychology major so maybe that's why I am so drawn to the mind.
