Do you do bondage? How do you do it?

Relating to: A Buyers Guide to Restraints

After reading Sarah Sloane's article today on SexIs, I got to thinking. How many of you enjoy bondage? How do you do it? Do you choose the type of restraint you use based on how you'll use it? Or just use what's handy?

There should've been an "all the above" option =P

My husband and I have always played with bondage. We both enjoy being in charge or being the one tied up. We do have a few things that we bought but we also have used household items. As a matter of fact we have terry bathrobe belts tied up on both sides of the headboard at all times. Just in case. My kids are grown now and they just chuckle because they know why they're there. We would LOVE to buy the Sportsheets bondage bed sheets some day.

Funny story and we still laugh about it....

Many years ago we had some metal handcuffs, which I used on my husband one night. Once we were done we realized that we couldn't find the keys. We tried everything we could think of to pick the lock. We even tried pliers to break the cuffs themselves. I don't remember how we finally did it but suffice to say he's not still handcuffed to my bed. He was actually late for work that day because of it. And like I said we still laugh about it. It was a night we'll never forget.

We got the Sportsheets 7 Piece Fantasy Kit last month, so that's definitely upped our bondage play up by a bit. However, when we first started out, we used pieces cut from a big skein of jute that I had leftover from a crafts project. My boyfriend loved the slightly chafing sensation that the twine had and taught me how to tie some easy adjustable knots. We've also used ribbons, sashes, scarves... anything that's lying around.

Heh. That's why I made it multiple choice. I know a lot of folks do it all.

Yeah, I want to try all of the things listed but just haven't yet.

Well, I voted for leather even though I haven't used it because I know it will be what I like best out of all my options. Rope bondage has never appealed to me in the slightest and I am absolutely bewildered why people like it. Plus, I'm just not that patient as the one who binds. Velcro cuffs really ruin the fantasy for me so I don't plant to use anymore of them. And I suppose that my husband uses real cuffs in his job just makes them seem kinda mundane.

Leather yum!

Adriana as for the rope and I know others feel this way too is moreso the sensations and the marks that are left behind in the skin are also fun to run your fingers over and remember what just happened. I also love the artisitc side of Shibari etc. Velcro cuffs just ain't strong enough lol.

I love the crave line. It is furry on the inside and it feels really good on my skin.

We haven't tied each other up or bound each other with external physical restraints, but we have used mental bondage techniques, like putting someone in a position and saying "Now, stay like that." or "Don't move." Or whatever. We don't get the fun of tugging at actual restraints, but it's much more of a mind-over-matter challenge to stay still.

Now that I think about it, I guess we've used each other's bodies as restraints, holding the other person's arms away, etc.

I love it. I usually prefer under-the-bed restraints, because they're just so easy, but I also like regular cuffs, and rope bondage is nice for the visual effect.

I know people find it artistic but it just isn't appealing to my sense of aesthetic.

I use rope, leather or metal cuffs (I use only police issue cuffs, however, when talking about standard handcuffs. They are not flimsy and are less inclined to slice you wide open or break during use like cheaper cuffs will) when using physical restraints. We do use mental bondage as well, my husband is particularly fond of using it. For some reason I have an absolute hatred for fuzzy handcuffs, I'm not completely sure why, other than the fact I've never seen a pair that used well made cuffs under all the fuzz.

I neglected to mention that we do not use velcro, for the same reason Vanilla Impaired states- not strong enough.

Leather, rope or scarves are all good and, like Vanilla Impaired said, the ligature marks can be a nice reminder. Haven't used metal yet. Velcro isn't strong enough.

I'm a major fan of leather cuffs. We do use rope but my knots look so unsexy, never was a Girl Scout.
Velcro hasn't worked too well for me.

THANK YOU to the people who said Velcro isn't strong. Alan's been afraid to let me bind him ever since he read "Gerald's Game" by Stephen King (although it was the wife who wound up trapped in that story). For those of you who don't know the tale, it's about a bondage game that goes awry when one of the partners keels over from a heart attack... leaving the other handcuffed with nobody nearby to help.
Anyway, now I can direct him to this post, and beg him to buy us velcro cuffs .

I... like it all. Except, perhaps, furry cuffs on a hot day. Ew. And M wouldn't use velcro if you paid him.

I hate being tied up or blindfolded or gagged. I do like tying people up, blindfolding them and playing KBG agent.

we have a under bed restraint and love it mostly because we can hide it but we also like the fact it can be used in other ways like to attach 2 cuffs togeather so they can go around the thigh just above the knee and they hold your legs up towerd your chest real nice (while she peggs me)we have also taken the cuffs of the compleatly and bent each other over a stool or chair and then cuff leggs and hands underneath great for that paddleing with that home made maple paddle I made

We too have the Under the bed restraint system and use it almost way too often!! If you have the tethers made by Sportsheets you'll find you can come up with almost an infinite number of ways to tie the person down!! Another thing that really does it for my partner and I is the Silicone Ball Gag

My partner and I just recently began looking more into including bondage into our sex lives. It was per my request, I can still remember the time I first had him tie me down using the cording that I had in my sewing notion stash. Ha ha. I really enjoy it and I was recently submitted a review on the DVD "Midori's Expert Guide to Sensual Bondage" - it really helped to get the creative juices flowing! I only have a tie and some tether restraints in my arsenal so far - but I am very looking forward to getting a collar and lead & some independent restraints.

I love to be tied down/restrained but Sigel has a major issue with the practice due to his early childhood abuse so it's only recently with Arch that I can fully explore this kink. The problem is Arch lives in Canada and just down the street from his Mom who believes her son is a terrible slob who needs her to come over and clean. Which means he never knows when she is going to go through his drawers and throw stuff away. *sigh* She's truly a lovely person but has OCD so we don't get too hard on her but it cramps our style to have to put everything "kinky" far away from her. Still it won't be long before he's here with us so YAY!
