Thank you! In the same vein, I'd like to be alerted in my email, or have something pop up or an alert when I visit eden somewhere more promenant than my account page when I have a message on the site. Sometimes I don't actually visit my account page every day and have often missed messages for several days at a time. If there was something maybe at the top of the page when I log on to EF where it showed I had a new message (up by the links for the shopping cart and wishlists maybe) or if I got an email saying I had a message on the site (or both) that would be very helpful.

You can click on the "my discussions and posts" tab at the top of any section on the boards, which I often do, and it does show if any of them have posts you haven't read, which is helpful, but I'd still like to just get an email or alert.

My suggestion, and I do not know how hard this would be: Anybody else wish that EF had a chat function? So ... more
We do appreciate the suggestion, but at this time we have opted not to include a chat feature. The main function of the site isn't to act as a social networking hub, and adding a chat feature would likely make it too close to that.

If you go to Account > Email notifications you can set an alert to get emails when you get messages. You can also click here to do the same thing.

Can there be a way, in the forum, to filter out discussions by type? Whether you only wanted to see polls, or only wanted to see comparison polls, or only wanted discussions. Or wanted to see everything except comparison polls (my case).

For me, personally, while I understand the purpose of comparison polls for asking pointed questions about several facets of a comparison... they're kind of annoying for me to follow, because the lightbulb icon doesn't work on them. Also, it seems like there are more and more of them lately, and they sort of drown out the discussions I would like to participate in. And since it's harder to find interesting content, I have been using the forums much less often lately. (And that makes me sad, because I like offering advice comparing toys!)

Anyway. I don't want to take away people's power to make them (because they do serve a definite use), but I would use the forum more if I could filter them out.

Could we work a 'by-discussion-type' filter into the next forum update?

I didn't want to potentially derail your new tutorial on customizing wish lists, but along those same lines I would love if we had the ability to customize within a wishlist. For example, I would love if we could set the order of items within a list (currently it's based on oldest item added first), sort by price, sort by lure level, sort by product type, etc. I think some of these changes would make the wishlists much more useful as tools for contributors.

Actually I believe you can already do that. At the top of the list right above the products you can change what it sorts by. There's not an option for product type, but you can do when it was added, the lure, the price, how many you want, and how many have been purchased.

I actually have a suggestion: I think it would come in handy for mentors if when you got a review in your dashboard that you next to the mentor program tab, it popped up in a bold color "New Review", similar to when you got a message. And the same kind of idea different bold color when you get a student request. Especially since all of us don't get our email alerts.

Your right, I guess I was thinking more sorting within a product category.

I am very new to EF and I love it!!! I don't know enough about the site and the review program to make a sugestion. Though I must say, the site and the review program are very easy to navigate!!

I do wish on the site there was more bondage items for the light user rather than the starter kits.

Per Stormy's suggestion that I post in this thread, how about the ability to View All Followers/Following?

I may be way out in left field here, but as someone willing to try new things, I would love a button or something that you can click and the sight will randomly send you to a product page. I think it would be a great way to be exposed to new products you didn't even know were out there. Obviously sometimes a search turns up interesting things, but they tend to be similar. Items that show up on my wall also tend to the same thing as a fellow contributor may be looking for a specific item and several similar items all show up on my wall at the same time.

Just a though and thanks for replying to my other suggestion, I totally understand!

I would like to have a spell check option here in the forum they way we do for comments. I know we can edit if we see the typo quickly enough. I know I have made mistakes I didn't notice until the next day and it was too late!

I do agree, I think more BDSM items would be beneficial. Maybe even items suitable for heavy play?

Also. Are sexy shoes/boots an option? I feel like it would be perfect if EF sold sexy shoes, as well. =]

I agree with this! I'd love to have a 'random' button to just send me to a random product. It would be a great way to discover new toys.

Just want to enthusiastically second Antipova's suggestion. Wading through the forums really can be difficult when you're trying to steer clear of the comparison polls.

I thought of another thing; the ability to edit posts all the time rather than only before someone posts, & also the ability to click right to the end page of any certain thread.

You can always click on the "go to last post" button to go to the last page of a thread. As for the ability to edit posts anytime, I believe the rationale behind not being able to edit them after somebody else has posted was to not change the past. So if you said one thing, and somebody replied thinking you said one thing but you changed it to say another, then you could have voided all of the conversation after the fact. I know that's a bit of a dramatic example, but it's the first thing I thought of.

I'm adding another suggestion:

the same navigation tabs at the top of every page

I find myself going back to the home page or my profile page because it's easier to navigate from there than the page I'm on.

Can we have an "update product info" button for the item pages?

I know sometimes manufacturers change the design of a product without alerting EF (the infamous Ocean Breeze comes to mind). Other times there are small errors in the listing. For example, I was just looking at the Festiva Exotic Mask page and noticed that all the color option pictures show the same color.

A button that would forward a message directly to a staffer with the power to fix a listing would be extremely useful.

Perhaps it's just my computer, but one thing I find frustrating is when I have a couple of items in the cart and I have to leave for a bit, so I shut down the window the cart items disappear. I've been in my account the whole time and my wish list is remembered, so why not my cart list? Every time I go to return to the site because I don't tend to make purchases spur of the moment, everything that was in the cart is gone and I have to find it all over again. Many times I just chose not to go through all the trouble twice in the same day and the purchases I would have are put off, sometimes until there is no stock left which is further frustration. Is it just me?

I don't think I've ever had this problem. If I shut off my computer after adding a free gift, I lose the free part of that and have to re-add it, but that's it.

I think it would be awesome if we could get some kind of alert to tell us when we can get our free monthly assignment. Every month I get flustered trying to figure out which day I can get it.

Forum stuff:

Why is strap-on in bdsm? Strap-ons can be used during power exchange, just as vibrators can, but they're probably used more often in a context (pegging, lesbian sex, trans men) that doesn't include bdsm. Why not move it to the general toy discussion?

Too many categories! I'd rather see fewer, less specific categories. For example: Adult DVD/Porn could be a category of its own, or could be condensed into four categories (Erotica and Print, Actors and Actresses, Parodies, General) or two categories (Erotica and Print, General). As it is, how do you decide whether your post about something goes in 'Porn Misc' or 'DVD/Blueray'? And there are two subforums within Sexual Health called "The Safer Sex Symposium" and "The Safety Dance". I think a group of regular posters from each primary category should be appointed to discuss the issue and make recommendations.

Stop offering points for starting new threads. People who start a thread should do so because they want to discuss it, not because they want 10 points. This will cut down on a lot of forum clutter, I believe. Keep the points for posting in existing discussions. (Also suggested this in the point farming thread.)
