Oh totally agree. I have hubby bring home fruit bowls for me on almost a daily basis. But, tomorrow we're going to have my infamous pork chops and baked potatoes (microwaved). Just quick pan fry them and move on. It's already starting to hit the 90's down here.

Blueberries... do not cost the same in December where I'm at. Lawdy do I wish they did.

I don't have air conditioning, so I almost never bake in the summer because I don't want to cook at the same time as my meal! Is anybody else in the same boat as me?

As long as it doesn't require the oven, I'm cool but we aren't really big on a lot of soups as it is.

Yes, I just stop baking in the summer unless I want to jack up my electric bill so that I can run the AC on arctic. Houston humidity kills me.

We have air conditioning, but baking goes down a lot in the summer because it gets into the hundreds and nobody feels like moving, let alone baking.

I bake during summer, maybe im just weird. I love baking too much to let the crazy ass weather keep me from doing it. Especially when it comes to home made bread.

Yum. Even though I love fresh bread, I usually switch to stovetop flat breads like chapati in the summer.

Welcome to Eden Cooks, all, now that it's officially 8EST! We're talking about summer cooking.

What exactly makes them Hawaiian? I've never really understood them (granted I've never had one)

Steaming is a really great sumer cooking method. It's a good cooking method in general---you can make sure your food will have a soft texture, and you won't lose flavor the way you do when boiling. As an added bonus, steaming something (whether a meat, poultry, or fish main course, a vegetable side dish, or a batch of steam buns) keeps your kitchen much cooler than baking does.

Off topic. A certain member of eden who doesnt post or review anymore plays a game I play on my ipad. And has showed up in the forums of said game. I tried to make contact but I never got a response and Im afraid I made them uncomfortable just by saying hey i know you! I feel bad now, kind of.

They're sweet and buttery and about the size of a White Castle/Krystal bun. And it's a family tradition that turned into a business for a Hawaiian family.

I think they are generally sweeter in taste. Something along those lines

They always post a lot on the forum like a lot lot. And make a lot of jokes. Maybe they just got sick of eden and dont want to be reminded. which is shocking considering who it is, they were a HUGE part of the community.

Well it sounds like I'm researching Hawaiian rolls soon...

Most of the recipes I've shared so far in Eden Cooks have been personal concoctions or family hand-me-downs, but this Chinese Steamed Fish is actually straight out of a really fantastic cookbook I've been absorbing lately. If you're interested in other similar recipes, check out "The Key To Chinese Cooking," by Irene Kuo. I want to share her recipe directly because it does such a great job of showcasing this simple cooking technique, with simple ingredients---and produces a delicacy.

Trivia: The edible part of ginger is its rhizome---the plant grows as a reed-like herb and can grow up the three feet high.

I love ginger, especially in tea form. It helps my stomach calm down really quick and tastes great. Only problem is sometimes it gives me insomnia, which is known to happen.
