Would You Bake a Mayonnaise Cake?

Contributor: Bethy Cassatt Bethy Cassatt
Would you ever cook one? My grandma makes a fantastic one, but I'm not quite sure what to think of it... It's so strange.

The name of it sounds foul, lol. I suppose I'd try it, though.

Chocolate? Mayonnaise is just eggs and oil. Supper yummy and super moist.

I've never heard of one, but it sounds like it could work out well. Coke cake is good, so why not?

So awesome, I love mayonnaise cakes. I don't make them often though, because I prefer to control how much egg and oil I'm using, and mayo is a set mixed amount.

Yes, it makes for a nice cake.

I have never heard of one. Recipe please! Sounds like a good idea. Mayo is made of eggs yolk and oil so seems like a good idea.

I don't think I would but if it sounds good to the hubby I'd try it once.

I don't care for mayo, so... probably not.

Sure, why not? The end product probably doesn't really taste like mayonnaise. I have a cheesecake and a cookie recipe that both rely heavily on sour cream, but don't taste like it. The Funny Cake I make uses vinegar, but you don't taste it.

Mayonaise? That sounds kind of gross. But maybe that's just me. Mayonnaise really grosses me out for some reason. I barely tolerate it on sandwiches.

I have to admit that it sounds repulsive. But as someone pointed out mayo is just eggs and oil, which generally go into cake anyway.

I might have to try this one day.

Does anyone have any cool recipes that they want to share, so that curious parties can make their own mayo-cakes?

I've seen plenty of recipes, and have always wanted to try it but never have. If you're feeling lazy and wanna try, google mayo cake box mix. There are plenty of recipes floating around out there.

Made this recipe tonight... MOISTEST CAKE EVER!! I also took a little bit of vanilla frosting and put that on top while it was still warm so that a little bit would soak into the cake. YUMMM!!

Awesome! I'm trying to talk my fiance into letting me make this for him. He's skeptical about the "mayo" part, not his favorite food. I'll keep you posted!

No, absolutely not. I don't eat anything if I know it has mayo in it.
