yeah, with my fibro and sensory issues I prefer being at home to watch things. We do a lot of on demand through our digital cable, netflix and redbox.

I like pretty much all movies except really violent action, some horror ... more
Right. No violent or horror movies for me either. Action movies don't do anything for me either. Intellectual movies or non-stupid comedies or documentaries are good.

I borrowed the last Twilight movie from a friend and when I told my husband I wanted to watch it, his response was "welp, I'm going to bed, night." It was like, 7pm I think?

There are no dinner theaters where I live and for the love...the nearest one is an hrs drive for the time being. One will be opening soon in the next town. Can't wait!

I really like horror movies, specifically anything ... more
I am a twilight addict, the first date me and the man had after my sons birth was last September (when he was 5!) while my parents were visiting, and we saw New moon lol

We had one, but they weren't getting enough revenue so they shut down. They re-opened again, but only to show Rocky and no food is served. I had fun going there though!

Movies seem to be one of the greatest ties in our society. Other than music, movies truly seem to be one of the main pop culture media formats that we connect through. We can always find a way to relate, debate, share feelings, or tell a joke by referencing movies. Think I’m exaggerating? Here are a few movie quotes that seem to really never seem to lose their popularity:

“You talking to me?” Taxi Diver

“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” Gone with the Wind

“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.” The Godfather

“There’s no place like home.” The Wizard of Oz

“Show me the money!” Jerry Maguire

“You can’t handle the truth!” A Few Good Men

“I’ll be back.” The Terminator

“Stella!” A Streetcar Named Desire

“Here’s Johnny!” The Shining

“They’re here!” Poltergeist

That’s just a small sampling, no doubt, of quotes that I know I have used. (Yes, even Stanley’s “Stella!” as I used to have a mischievous cat named Stella!) Later on, we’re going to have a “Guess the movie” quote contest… Clues will not be given throughout the meeting, so I hope you have your pop-culture movie references in the tip top of your brain!

What are some of YOUR favorite movies to quote?

Army of Darkness, that part where Ash has to recite the three words before he can take the book and gets the first two then sort of coughs out the last one. My husband quotes that all the freaking time, lol.

One line we quote is from Tom Hanks, after a loud explosion with flames and smoke happens behind him and he slowly turns around to see it, turns back and says "I don't believe I heard anything at all."

One thing I really want to do here is have movies that we watch as a club. Almost always these movies will be available on disc or streaming through Netflix, since it seems that most people have some kind of service like this. Anyone have any concerns or objections to this? Suggestions?

Going to the movies on a regular basis can be expensive, but I think it would be fun if, a couple of times a year, we make something releasing in theaters the movie of the month. For instance, in July, it could be the last installment of Harry Potter; or maybe at Christmas time it could be whatever huge movie is releasing (since Christmas is a time of blockbusters). Any thoughts on that?

Another line we quote is from Pumping Iron. After watching Lou Ferrigno do an intense workout, which his father just watches, the father says "Whew! What a workout!"

It would give me an excuse to get out of the house and go see a movie with my husband, I'd be ok with that.
