Contributor: Airen Wolf Airen Wolf
Welcome to the May Meeting of the Eden Lit Club!

The categories this Month were:
* Third Person Perspective/narrative: Using the lesson as a guideline write a third person piece. The person who writes the best example of this perspective will win a $25 gift card for EdenFantasys!
* Five Words- We are revisiting this topic for fun so please write for us a story, poem, editorial, whatever including all five words: Bloom, Spring, Erect, Blue Birds, and Ms. Piggy. Go and be creative all you intrepid writers!
* Open Topic- Like usual this is your chance to write about whatever interests you.

Here are the links to these submissions:
Little Spoon
Material
The real Miss Piggy
The Watcher
The Change

If any late posters want their work discussed in this meeting please post a link to your work in the comments of this thread. If there is time we will discuss the work!
If you are an avid reader then be sure to leave a comment or two on each of the stories you read to give our writers some encouragement!

This Month we will be discussing how we can combine all of the perspectives into a coherent and easily read piece. We will award two $25 GCs- one to the best example of Third Person Perspective and one to a new member who attends the meeting. So come on by and join in the fun!

There has never been a limit on the number of words any piece for Eden Lit. All we ask is that the work be a complete one. If you would like a critique on an incomplete work you may submit it with a disclaimer but I won't guarantee that we will have time during the meeting...but most of the members of the club and even the community at large would be very happy to help.

To answer some questions I have been asked about the upcoming mini lesson:
We will be looking at how each of the three perspectives can be combined in a single piece of writing. Now this is a tricky thing to do because nothing confuses a reader faster than changing perspectives without a break to show that either someone else is talking or some other form of literary device to alert the reader to change speed, as it were!

When a writer remembers that their readers are, essentially, blind, deaf and sensory deprived he or she can begin to craft a story that is vivid, easy to follow and flows easily.
We will look at various techniques for organizing and sharing these amazing visions we have in our heads...and learn how to translate that into word pictures.

For now we are focusing on getting the ideas to flow in a predictible voice. Later we will focus on cleaning up the grammar and proper self editing. We can also look into any type of writing style that members are curious about and perhaps even try our hand at it...haiku anyone?

Ooh in one of my classes we have been doing haiku and tanka lately. We have also been assigned a sonnet.

Nope! Every meeting day because usually my mind forgets to change the date and the time for my time zone I forget. You have my permission to kick the boy in my bed out, demand some coffee and I'll be here!!!
