Our deadline for book submissions is rapidly approaching and we need to be thinking about how were going to organize our chapters for the book.
We've already decided ... more
I think you should decide chapters once you see what pieces of writing you have. Get the material first, then decide how to organize it.

I think the submissions might determine the chapters. But also what about separating the chapters by topics or topic months...
That was one idea as well. I am going to be working on making a master list of everything that has been submitted. At the next meeting we can look at the stories and break them up into the themes. Get them posted in their themes for the community to vote on and then we breath like we've run a marathon!

I appreciate your concern. I was just trying to make a joke.

Guess it didn't come across the way I meant it. Sorry.

I didn't mean to sound condescending. I assumed it had been ruled out, just wanted to double-check. I am so sorry for what you are going through. It's such a terrible feeling to have a life-threatening issue and not know what is causing it. I hope they can figure it out ASAP.

Hi, Alice

That sounds interesting. But where exactly would the open topics go?

Personally I think 12 chapters will be plenty but how many submissions per chapter? Should we wait to decide this until we see the length of the submissions per category? Somemonths we got some short entries and others we had long and involved entries. I think the juxtaposition between the loner and shorter will keep it interesting an represent us better.

Thanks. I don't think you sounded condescending. I know that a lot of people mistake panic attacks for heart attacks. I was just assuring you that I know the difference.

Thanks for your concern. Though this doesn't appear to be life-threatening since it's not getting any worse, just not getting any better. It is still very FRUSTRATING not knowing what's wrong with me.

The open topic posts will be lumped into one category for the voting and book placement. It's gonna be a hard one to whittle down but fun!

Well, folks,my company just arrived. I will catch up on the rest of it later. Btw, is there a max number of (new) submissions to the book?
Take care all!

I think maybe the amount of submissions would determine chapters. The juxtapostion sounds good for the chapters to show our different styles. Are you getting an equal number of submissions for the topics?

Something else we can be starting to think about is topics/themes for our next book.

Oh heck no LOL I think if we get too few entries for a topic we can either toss the topic/theme or add the interesting entries to the open topic.

Are there any topics that have gotten tons of entries? Or maybe we want a word count per chapter, so one chapter might have two or three long entries and another a bunch of short ones?

Also I think I'll keep the voting process short and sweet. it's too easy to get lost when you have over 8-10 choices per category. We can break it down and have more polls. Ideas?

That sounds like a plan. You want to showcase the best work, not just the pieces that happened to fit into a certain theme.

Both of those are great ideas Silverdrop. I guess we'll have to really decide that when we compile what we have to work with. Also I have an idea so that everyone is fairly represented. I'd like to have each of our more prolific writers either choose their favorite pieces or have a public vote so that the less prolific amoung us gets a chance to share the spotlight. I want to include as many of us (if not all) as we can.

Separate the polls by chapter maybe

Exactly! This is a book showcasing US as a group not just a book about themes. If that makes sense.
