My back-ordered item was discontinued how to i get credit?

Contributor: Sunspyne Sunspyne

In 2012 i got excited about a free gift and spent a lot on toys specifically get it free and the gift item went out of stock right before my whole order. So my order got shipped...except the gift.
Customer service said it would be sent as soon as the item was in stock again.
I've been patient but..I just looked a while back and it was discontinued!

I contacted customer service once and no luck..

What do I do?

Just grit your teeth and say "Life just isn't fair"...

Some years ago, with a different online toy retailer, I experienced something sort of similar. They had a promotion for spending X dollar amount (a much higher dollar amount than EF) and get free shipping. So I ordered several items to hit that magic amount, as it turned out one of the items was back ordered so they sent what they did have in inventory but that shipment did not h.t the magic amount so they DID charge me shipping. Then the next day when the back-ordered item arrived at their store they shipped it out and again charged me shipping. So by ordering more to get "free shipping" I paid two shipping charges...

I even called and spoke with the owner of that small company, he dug in his heels that there was nothing wrong with doing things that way.

Did the company try to compensate you in some other way to make up for the two shipping charges? For me, that would be a tell into the way the business conducts itself. That would chap my hide and I don't like a chapped hide. I hope you are no longer doing business with that company.

With regard to the O.P., do you still have time to return the items ordered for a refund? Wait, I just re read your situation. I think the return window has passed. Try to find out if you can be compensated in another way.

Oh hell no, the owner of the company, like i said dug in his heels that there wasn't anything wrong with what they did... from his perspective an extra ten bucks in his pocket was better than having a loyal customer.

They're still in business but not doing very well, unless it's just a hobby anyway. If anyone really cares that company was/is blowfish dot com I just checked his website and it looks like he's only doing closeout sales of one item til it's gone a day. I hold no animosity, hell i wish he'd been a better businessman and made a thriving company that could have been an asset to those of us who enjoy such products. But... I get it, "Life just isn't fair"

@RonLee Yikes! I'm sorry that happened. I can see why you're at Eden instead. o.o

I guess I'm going to keep harassing them? I'm too broke to just go re-buy a similar toy anyway, haha.

Eden has been good to me until now. However I did find a company that has a 1 year return policy. It's tempting but the community here is awesome and the ways to earn points keep me here.

I drew this and attached it in a support ticket:

It worked

The rep said "It may just be picture frame worthy " and "3 years - that takes some dedication"

I got this inspiration after watching Frisky Business. It's a behind the scenes documentary on an overseas toy shop that, at least to me are similar to Eden.

Anyway, it just reminded me that the customer reps are human, and what they deal with on the job. So I tried to make them laugh in the photo and in my message.

In reality, I probably just got lucky.

Holy Crap! It worked? Nice Job!

Correct me if I'm wrong but Frisky Business is about a toy company based in the UK. It has branched out to other markets in other countries, right?

It needed more episodes...
