#AskEden - Any chance for FedEx?

Contributor: MidnightStorm MidnightStorm
I've never been a huge fan of USPS and this year service has been particularly bad. Priority mail regularly takes over a week to reach me and heaven forbid we mail something non-priority, because that's a minimum three week wait. (USPS recently mutilated a package from my boyfriend for my birthday--I've been waiting on it for over 5 weeks now, since it had to be re-shipped) I've never had a huge problem with UPS, but since they apparently did some location changing this year I can no longer get UPS shipping to my campus from Eden. And, the more I think about it, the more I realize that it's been a while since I've seen a UPS truck around here anyways, although that may just be bad timing/luck. I see FedEx trucks almost constantly, though!

All that being said... Will Eden ever support FedEx shipping? It sure would be nice.

I was thinking about this today as well because my UPS service has gone downhill recently.

You can get UPS or USPS shipping to any location in the world, it just may not apply to your order as free shipping due to UPS remote location regulations and fee schedules; some locations incur surcharges.

We've looked into FedEx and decided their services did not fit our needs. UPS Innovations is the free shipping option we offer. The exception to this is for an assignment assigned by an administrator. Assignments have set due dates from date of shipment and can be shipped via USPS priority for free.

We've looked into FedEx and ... more
I may or may not have figured out how to get UPS to recognize my location as non-remote, but I won't really know until the next time I order. ( I think that using "Drive" instead of the auto-correct to "DR" is helping? It let me go mostly through with a pretend order earlier )

Regardless though... Does that mean that if you put in a particularly large order and want to pay for shipping through UPS that you have to pay for the more expensive shipping option? That's a bit hard to explain/portray. To give an example, if I put a $145 item in my cart, it qualifies for free shipping via USPS Priority, UPS Mail Innovations, UPS 3 Day Select. However, if I select one of the two UPS options and attempt to go through with my order, it gives me the error regarding the remote location and 'forces' me to choose USPS Priority. In order to have UPS shipping, do I have to choose the next option up that is not free (UPS Second Day)?
