I'm located in upstate NY, and now I'm finding I'm having trouble getting UPS shipping.

I just placed a very large order, which should've qualified for the free 3 day shipping (it was well over $79 -- in fact, it was over $200). But... when I went to put my address in, a box popped up, telling me that Eden ships to "remote domestic locations with USPS priority" -- and it wouldn't allow me to select anything but priority.

Reluctantly, I settled for priority, but I'm not very happy about it. UPS was PERFECT for me, as the UPS truck always comes around the time that I get out of work -- so I'm usually there to greet the UPS man. With USPS priority, my package ends up sitting on my front porch for several hours while I'm at work. Not a huge deal, but ... honestly, if I can't use UPS anymore, I'll probably stop ordering as much, because I don't care for USPS at all. My USPS mailman is incredibly shady... and again, I just hate leaving my packages out for that long, especially as my orders tend to be quite expensive.

I just don't understand why I'm suddenly not allowed to use UPS. I even tried paying for next day shipping, only to find that...nope, I'm not allowed. Weird, because I've placed a TON of orders lately, and all of those were able to be delivered by UPS. I know that UPS is still delivering orders to my neighborhood, as I just received a package from UPS today... so, I just can't figure out the reasoning for this.

Questions about shipping need to be directed to customer service via support ticket or you can call directly at (888) 506-5516 from 9 AM to 6 PM Eastern time.

Call your post office and tell them that if you aren't home then you want them to take the package with them and you can pick it up at the post office when you are available. We had to do that with stuff sent to my fiance's house because TWICE someone stole our stuff from Eden as well as some expensive car parts.

But I'd still take Stormy's advice. But if you have a package on its way, def. call the post office and tell them not to leave it.

I fucking HATE the USPS! I just made a very similar post to this one yesterday. UPS is excellent and always come to my door, whereas the jerks at USPS never bothers to attempt deliveries because I live on a hill away from the street. I guess they don't like taking the walk. I've filed my 7th complaint on them because of this fact and the rude bitch that answered my complaint hung up on me. I'm disabled and can't always get to the damn post office, and the last 5 packages I've received from EF had to be picked up at the post office.

I've tried to work with them, but they won't work with me. I really hope we both can get UPS to deliver our stuff, because USPS just doesn't give a damn about our products and customer service.

I'm kind of the opposite...I prefer USPS priority and like the the the UPS sure post is transferred to the post office. But I live in an apartment complex and have not had any problems with people taking anything. The only problem I have had is with the UPS guy throwing a package onto my balcony (I live on the second floor) and possibly damaging the product. This was a toy from another company, not EF, and the UPS usually leaves them at the apartment building office. Ironically, I had a package from EF waiting patiently at my door, undisturbed. I guess it just depends on the area.

That's a problem, too, though. I don't get out of work until after the post office closes, and it's incredibly difficult for me to get to the post office on Saturday's due to my schedule & the location of the post office. So... if I had them take the package with them, there's a good chance that my package would spend weeks at the post office waiting for me to have the chance to pick it up.

Maybe customer service can help you out, but isn't the "remote domestic locations" issue something that UPS decides? I remember Ryuson's thread about the horrors of shipping to New Mexico. I never realized that any of the lower-48 were treated like that by shipping companies…

It's possible that ups decides it, but I'm still able to get ups shipping everywhere else I shop. I just got a ups delivery yesterday in fact.

I wrote to support and they said that its ups and usps that determines the shipping and I have always used the free shipping. In fact I got a ups delivery the same day that it told me I cant get UPS. Today, for the fun of it before surrendering to the 7.99 shipping I added a new address ( without the 4 digits at the end of the postal code they automatically add) and wheh it came back with a suggested address to correct it, I said no, ship to the one I wrote in, which is my address and it gave me the free shipping. Maybe if you did it that way it will do it for you too.

Sorry about the shipping hassles--our mailman is very odd and doesn't always deliver the mail or pick up outgoing mail left in the box. I know I prefer using UPS most of the time--even though they come late to my house, around 7-9pm, but still, at least I get it!!!

I just tried that, and it wouldn't work for me.

What's frustrating is that it won't even let me pay extra for UPS. I would gladly pay extra, but it only gives me the option of priority. Extremely disappointing.

I hope that EF adds a way for shoppers in remote locations to pay for UPS, because I certainly don't feel comfortable using USPS at all.

Yep -- that's the same way my mailman is. Ugh...

I have an order that costs over $200 due to arrive by USPS priority on Friday... hopefully it actually does. It's hit or miss with USPS, though.. sometimes they arrive at their scheduled time, and other times the mailman just doesn't bother trying to deliver it, and I end up having to call the post office to find out that it's been sitting there for days... Hope it doesn't happen this time.

Still not happy about the idea of it sitting on my porch for several hours, though.

I am really unhappy about this change!!!! I can no longer get UPS Sure Post to a PO Box (have received many orders this way), AND delivery to my house is now a "remote location", GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I can't get UPS ANYTHING anymore. I spoke with customer service about it, even said that I'd be willing to pay extra! I was pretty much told that there was nothing that could be done about it.

Just tied to orde and no UPS here in Wyoming either. Grrr. I would certainly be willing to pay for UPS since I am the VERY LAST house on the USPS route and if she is running late she skips our road altogether for that day.

I actually thought it was a site glitch. If I try to pay with PayPal, I can't get the free shipping, but if I pay with my card, I can get the free shipping selection.

i had that happen the other day!! it was so annoying cause it let us ship it to my inlaws but not our house and theyre like 20 mins apart!! not sure why (oh and i've had several other packages sent here before!!)

I had the same problem- very frustrating! USPS takes *forever* to get to my house, so it's especially annoying to have to pick that when I qualify for the upgraded UPS shipping options.

And since I review products for my blog, UPS is here ALL the time, as in several days per week. Super confusing.

I wonder if anyone has talked to UPS about it? I am having the same problem, except I do not have any sort of mail available through USPS so until i can have it shipped to me with UPS they wont be getting my business. I had a UPS package delivered last week from amazon.com and it wasnt any issue.

oooh i got it to work. I tried just deleting the last 4 it added to my zip code and trying and it didnt work. Then i tried making a new address and not adding the last 4 (so having 2 identical addresses listed only thing different was the last 4 of the zip on the first one) And that didnt work either.

What i had to do was erase all the addresses i had saved and then add new address where i wanted it shipped with only my 5 digit zip code. Then it will ask if you want to use their address and in the very bottom of the corner pop up box is a little link that says continue as entered. Then it will let you ship!

I was about to make a similar post. I thought something was wrong with my address, so I changed it, because sometimes we have had problems with RD VS Road, no shit. So I changed it and it worked. However when I went to order again a few weeks later, it came up with the same message even though UPS comes out here all the time, I'm not exactly "Rural" by any means. I thought maybe I was cheating the system the second time, but now I'm not sure. I mean, how can it be right one time, and wrong the next? It's wierd.

It's within the UPS proprietary software. We ship according to their rates. If they consider a location remote, then we have to abide by that.

I had the same issue with both my home and alternate address. I was able to fix it by changing my address to a variation of it that I have used before.
