Has there been another contributor response that absolutely had you fuming?

I don't have a specific contributor; I just dislike uninformed, ignorant posts. Or ones that are clearly meant to inflame.

This is the internet. There is bound to be someone that will say something that will raise your hackles.

I try not to take anything personally.

Absolutely. I always try to respond (sometimes after a little breathing room) because if something violates my beliefs to that extent, I feel morally obligated to at least speak my piece so that another opinion can be out there in the world providing a different sort of information (come what may). The key is to stay level-headed. If none of your statements are outright accusatory, if your ideas come with good reasoning, and if you've written your response well (grammar checks and all), it's much, much harder to argue with your response. And most importantly, you should not just be adding fuel to the fire. Be an opponent of misinformation, if you should so choose, but for the love of Eden, don't be a raging troll and misrepresent your beliefs at the same time.

I have only encountered one other case (besides the one you mentioned. I'm appalled too) where I was mad at a contributor. I wanted to see if I could report him but I couldn't figure out how. So I'm glad I saw your post here because it had been bothering me so I looked into how to do it and just sent an email to EF about it. He was harassing the author of the article and another commenter and being very rude.

Basically, people are obviously free to disagree but I think EF should be a positive place for everyone so there is no call for extreme rudeness.

Ignorance is one of my biggest pet peeves, especially when others use their ignorance to hurt someone else.

Seeing as I just got here, I haven't seen anything yet.

But if I did (and this is one of those touchy subjects for me) I would definitely say something, and then if the inflammatory comments persist after I've made an effort to educate something will definitely be said to a moderator.

I grew up in Texas, so I have seen plenty of instances down here where football=a free pass to do what you want as long as your career is promising enough. This made me sick, and no amount of victim blaming will ever make me ok with what was done and how it was handled. Like someone said, you'd be speaking an entirely different tune if it was your child.

One thing I often tell my husband is "you can't fix stupid". Attacking someone or going back and forth with them when neither of you is going to change your opinion is pointless. Spend your time on the things you can change.

I have never been offended by someone. Although there is lots I disagree with I think each person is entitled to their own opinion.

Yes, we should teach boys to behave appropriately and everyone should be safe everywhere. However, we cannot ignore the fact that we live in the real world. There are a lot of people who do bad things. We need to teach girls (and boys) how not to be victims. Just like you teach them not to leave the keys in the car when they go into the store because someone will steal the car. Personal responsibility is something we are failing to teach our children.
