Video reviews require a written reivew to go with it, so it's more than double the work.

Err, I should say they require one if you're doing it as an assignment or for a gift card. I think you can upload one without a review for fun.

A written review is only required when it is a video assignment. You can still earn a GC for any video you do as long as it is approved by Carrie Ann.

And writing is a chore for me, so video reviews are so much easier.

I only did one video review. Between the number of takes it took to stop stuttering and the editing, it took literally all day. Finding the time to do them without a toddler in the background is also near impossible for me. Written reviews are much easier for me in all aspects.

Only done written

I find video reviews to be easier, simply because there aren't so many things you have to include in them - though it is always easier to make one after writing a review about stuff already...

I tried to do a video and I just kept messing up and saying the wrong thing even when I wrote myself a "script". Needless to say I prefer writing.

I would think that doing a video review would be easier for me, just because I can talk a mile a minute, but if I have to type it out, I struggle to make the minimum quota for words sometimes lol. Thanks for the answers everyone!

Recording the video is the easy part. I had the hardest time trying to figure out how to put the intro on-having never used video editing software before. But I know now, so next time should be easier.

Videos are more entertaining to watch sometimes, but usually a bit shorter and more lacking in practical information, from what I've seen. Still, it does seem to me like they'd be much quicker to throw together (minus the editing parts).

We have a number of excellent video reviewers on EF who make video reviewing look easy, but it's definitely not easier than text reviewing.

With a video, I think it's more difficult to select what's most important to discuss. There are, for example, video reviews that spend 2-5 solid minutes discussing the packaging. As much as packaging is worth mentioning, clearly dedicating several minutes to the subject is inappropriate (especially when your audience can't easily skip over it!). Not sure why videos seem to encourage this problem more than text, though.

I'm shy and I've only done one video review! To me it's easier to to a written review. I'm sure it's probably different for everybody. I get shy and I start mumbling and forgeting things.

I'm with Kira on this one, it would be impossible for me to do a video review with kids around.

I like to do the written reviews as I am a bit too shy to do anything on video.
