Anal Desensitizing Lubes ---and--- Vaginal Shrink Creams

Contributor: Always Aroused Girl Always Aroused Girl
EdenFantasys.com is considering removing these two types of items from the site, on the grounds that they are potentially unsafe and really don't do what they're advertised to do.

My questions are these: Would you be upset to see these products go away? Do you think customers would be upset to lose access to these products?

Other thoughts?

Please chime in.

Perceptive forum discussions on Desensitizing creams:

Prolonging creamms
Will desensitizing creams affect my partner?

DHT cream for genital growth (FAAB)
Does anyone have any person experience on this? The growth I've received from T has been rather... small. 1/4 of an inch, maybe. And I'm just hoping..

Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt
Which do you prefer? My favorite is frozen yogurt.

Coochy cream scents
I've been going through a lot of reviews to see if I could find one that talked about the green tea scent. I want to try something other than the 'Oh.

Stew or cream soup?
Which do you like more?

Unsafe, absolutely. I want them gone, but that's probably no secret. I have reconsidered my opinion on these products lately after reading comments by a few people on some of their reviews, but I have to say I still think they should be banished from sex toy world. You want to have anal sex? Great. Use lube and be a little patient. No reason to numb the area first. You want it to hurt? Great, then be a little rough. That's a personal choice, but if you're trying to avoid pain, best let your body guide you so you can also avoid future pain from an unintended injury to your butt during experimentation with Anal-eaze.

I am very glad that EF is considering removing these products. I initially hesitated over being affiliated with EF because these items were in the store. Removing them is the responsible move to make and would clearly demonstrate the commitment EF has to customer well-being and safe and accurate knowledge about sexual health.

I say get these items gone! Anal desensitizers can be really dangerous, esp for people who aren't sure what they are doing yet. Vaginal shrink creams are just a bad bad idea.

Get rid of 'em. They have no place in respectful, responsible sex.

Those two items should definitely be banished from the sex toy world. They offer no advantages that can't be gained through other, safer means (Kegels and some fun toys for tightening things up, and a little patience for buttsex is all that's needed) and they certainly increase the risk of being hurt. Besides, isn't the point of buttsex to feel the incredible sensations? Why would you want to numb that?

Do people actually buy that stuff anyway?

Pardon my ignorance, but what's so unsafe about them? Is it just because they numb down any pain that might otherwise be a red flag or is there an ingredient in them that is harmful to people?

They should definitely be removed from the store. Although some people may be upset to lose them, they can always find them on other places on the internet, and since they aren't safe to use in the first place, I don't think Eden Fantasys should be stocking them.

@ SerpentLibertine -- I don't know anything about the vaginal shrink creams (didn't actually know they existed till this post), but the issue with the anal desensitizing lubes is exactly like you said--they numb pain that should be a red flag, and greatly increase the chances of anal injury because of that. Pain is the bum's way of saying "I'm not ready for that, hold up!", and if you don't have that signal, things could get very broken very quickly.

The main concern with anal desensitizing cream is exactly that- it numbs pain that would be a red flag. That area of the body is very delicate and easily torn- hence the mantra "patience and lube" when talking about anal penetration. Anal-eaze and the like might make initial entry easier (but so will a little more time and more lube), but can mask pain or discomfort that would be a sign to stop.

I tried the adam and eve anal lube that's supposed to desensitize but, I mostly wanted to try it because a reviewer said it helped to relax their sphincter muscles for penetration. Since I'm new to the anal realm I tried it out. Just so everyone knows, it doesn't desensitize and it doesn't relax the sphincter. I was actually concerned about the desensitizing possibly causing an unfelt injury but, it didn't numb anything. The only thing that relaxed my sphincter was massage and patience. So, I can personally say, as an anal beginner, these products don't help anyway and you can actually be injured seriously if the lube DOES desensitize you so, I'm all for getting rid of them. I have no personal experience with shrink cream though....

I've never heard of the numbing creams "relaxing" anything.

You can voluntarily relax the outer ring of muscles (do this by pushing out) but the inner ring is an involuntary muscle. You can't consciously relax it. You just have to be patient, and calm, and ready, and willing. Then it will relax on its own.

I hadn't heard of it before either. Oh well, just another way for lubes to be misleading I guess...

You're advice is the best and only way to go about anal! You're exactly right! Where were you a couple of months ago when I was thinking we needed something else? =P Oh well, I've tried the desensitizers, they don't work......just use a good lube and do what AAG suggests and you'll be fine! =)

Okay, I need to clarify that. The one I tried didn't work! Don't numb your butt! Not a good idea!

Get rid of them. I've always found Eden Fantasys to be very educational as well as informational. Having these products up almost seems like EF is promoting them as a good idea, just because the rest of the site is so great.

Ha. Exactly what they sound like- they claim to be able to increase vaginal elasticity and give a 'tighter' feeling during penetration. I think they're even more of a scam than anal numbing stuff (which actually does something). Clearly vaginal rejuvenation surgery would not be so popular lately if simple cream did the trick.

I did a review about a vaginal shrink cream... it didn't work. I've never tried any anal desensitizes but every home toy party I've been to they all rave about it... that being said, I'd rather ya'll kept the anal creams on the website to draw in that audience so they don't go and dump their cash at a home-based party. All in all you guys want to make money- if you remove the products entirely will you attract new customers or will you lose old customers? If the products you want to toss aren't making any money than there's no harm in removing them from the website, however, if they're a popular buy then keep them around.

I've become an advocate (among my sexually open friends, at least) for practicing proper buttsex. I tell people all the time not to use that crap. I've heard of some folks challenging the home toy party presenters about their use too.

Those parties are terrible. I didn't realize how terrible they were until I found this site. I'm looking forward to going to another one.... A little evil yes, but there's something wrong when people claim to be "educated" on the subject and give out false and dangerous information.
