Photo Uploading!

Anyone else notice this?

We've been asking for it for a while, so this is really cool! I even put a few pictures on the locking collar that I received a while ago: link

This is a great update, I really am so glad for it!

Really useful feature!
And I finally managed to see the other side of that collar, thank you Sir!

I noticed this too. Seems like a great feature.

Just noticed that the other day. I need to go back and add some to the products I have done reviews for.

cool! very neat, I may indeed go back and add some pictures when I have the time (playing catchup from 9 buyout reviews is keeping me grounded lol)

OMG! This is going to make this review that I am currently working on SO much easier!

Oh wow, so cool! I'm going to go and upload some of mine later

I did notice it's not available on some pages that are on the old format, like this one.

we could include pictures with our reviews before. this is an option to upload photo without it being linked to a review. I'm not sure I get what EF's goal in this is. although it is a neat feature. Has anyone used it yet? I hope they go through an approval process, or i can just imagine....hehe

I had noticed the same, and was on a different thread link

I posted a link to consolidate convo here on Sir's thread

I could be wrong, but I think the difference is that EF would now be hosting the picture, rather than you the reviewer finding some place to host the image and linking it. This way, you can upload the pictures, have EF host them, and then link them in your review. No more worries about a photo hosting site deleting your pictures because they are considered inappropriate in any way.

So if we put them in our review do they automatically show up on this page?!

I would find it more conveniant for us, just because sometimes the image hosting sites take down the pictures.

My only concern is the amount of bandwith this could cause. I don't want it to lag up the site.

As for the product page format, it really bugs me that we have all the different style pages. As soon as I get used to one, they change it. This is now 3 formats that I have been through and I still find pages with the oldest one around. Something to bring up at the next CPE...

No, I think the idea is that you upload them to the product page, and then you can link them to your review as usual. This way, there is no risk of your images being deleted, unless EF does it. I haven't tried it yet but that was my assumption.

I've used it, and they don't go through an approval process or anything atm. I like that you can see user pictures at the bottom without having to search through the reviews for them. A lot of the time user photos can show the item's colour in a more everyday light, or comparison with other objects for size, and that kind of thing.

Definitely. I like the idea of this especially for lingerie, because that is one of the things that I really prefer to see pictures of. It is much easier to gauge how something is size wise in an actual picture, and like you said Dusk, you don't have to go through all the reviews to find them.

I put a few up, and yes, EF does the hosting as it asks for a file from your computer not a site like Flickr. (similar to uploading your avatar)

Pfun
Severin
Icicles No.2
Screw Royal

Like has been said, I think it is great, you won't have to look through reviews to find real world pictures. Also it will be great for uploading pic's for your reviews.

Photo uploading is an excellent addition to the site! I just posted three pictures of the Ocean Breeze which had a major redesign from the pictures EF displays. I wish EF had updated the pictures themselves, but letting users upload their pictures is very useful. Hopefully people won't start abusing the feature.

I've noticed too! I've uploaded a few pics so far! I think this should be put on the list to earn Eden points =)

Good point! I need to do that for the Violet Wonder, which is a totally different design than the one on EF as well.

Oh god, I hope it doesn't. I could see it getting way out of control, and we don't need 100 pictures of every item just because people want points.

I agree. I think EF is wise not to award points for photos. Doesn't hurt for the community to be altruistic once in a while.

Thanks for the heads up on the Violet Wonder, I was considering that one to replace the god awful ocean breeze.

I guess I didn't think of that, I was just thinking it would help get pictures on MORE items, it doesn't seem there are very many that do right now. =)

I also agree. No points! It'd turn into forum spam.

Now we don't have to go through reviews for pictures!

No, I just like it because I like the option of sharing images that I've taken of my product with everyone! I wouldn't want any reciprocation for it or anything of the sort, it's just fun to share.

Yes, we could post photos on our blogs or into our reviews using the format, but this is much cleaner and nicer looking than the formatted images in reviews are.

This is great. Unfortunately, the uploaded files must be converted by EF. I discovered that uploading animated .gifs no longer work when uploaded so those still have to be kept on another site.

I don't because then a bunch of people will be uploading ridiculous pictures and hogging all the bandwidth.

Just realized a bunch of other people put that, lol.

I think this is a pretty new feature so there won't be a lot of pics up yet. Give it time.

i agree, They should be streamlined. I would imagine they are working on getting consistency. Or perhaps it would be to much to go back and change?
