I placed one order on Tue. and got an assignment on Wed. I opted for the free USPS delivery option and had quite a surprise today when I checked to make sure my first package was out for delivery. I was re-routed to UPS???

I called customer support, Very amazing and helpful people, (thanks Megan!), who told me they were trying a new option called UPS SurePost. She tried to get my package back but was told it was too late.

I am now getting my packages delivered in a week. And however many days it takes the USPS to put it on the delivery roster.

Soooo....advice, go with UPS 2nd day or next day. Now I have no new toys for over a week, I am just seriously bummed and all our plans for the weekend are out the window. Anyone else crying tears in their beers with me?????

Awww. I'm so sorry. Can't you have fun times with some toys you already own?

We were going to go out of town and have a special weekend, there were items that we chose with this in mind. My dad was being cared for this weekend so we had some just us time. We will have to either postpone it or, yeah, we were going to bring some of our other toys but...we both wanted a 'perfect' weekend. Just whining, I know.

I feel your pain!!! USPS is a horrible postal service. And I hate to sound belittling and all... but one week is still better than two.

Aw, crap. This must be what happened to my package. For some reason it's stuck in New Hampshire right now instead of being sent west according to the tracking thing. *facepalm*

Okay, I noticed this too when I went to check the tracking of my package. I was almost positive I picked USPS, but the link took me to the UPS page.... So, I thought maybe I clicked the wrong shipping method??

I'm still confused what this is about though. My package was supposed to be out for delivery today, but the tracking info says "Package transferred to post office." I don't really know what this means, I've never seen this before and I check the tracking on my packages OBSESSIVELY every order!!!!

What is "UPS SurePost?"

Oh man, I am glad that I waited until today to order. I had over $100 spent, so it shipped free UPS air.

I found this on their website:

"The UPS SurePost services provide the convenience of UPS shipping and USPS-delivery to customers' mailboxes. UPS WorldShip determines if UPS or the USPS completes the final mile of delivery of each shipment."

So does this mean UPS shipped it, but USPS will deliver it to my door? If so, I'm kind of annoyed because it's just taking extra time to switch from UPS hands to USPS hands.

It adds one to two weeks to your orders.....check the forums about it, type in UPS Surepost and search.

My order was for 150, not counting the discounts but I made it prior to the by the weekend shipping guarantee.

Huh. The reason I prefer UPS to USPS is that UPS has same-day pickup if I'm not home when they come. It seems strange that UPS would be like "hey check out how awesome this is we give it to the post office!" ... my situation would work much better if USPS did the cross-country moving (especially because they don't stop on Saturdays) and UPS did the to-my-door delivery. But I guess different things work better for different people depending on where you live.

Okay, cool... I just looked at my orders and the one I had that was shipped Tuesday (a review item, I chose USPS free shipping) is in the UPS SurePost method, and it's set to be delivered Saturday.

But the one that was shipped on Wednesday, I also chose USPS shipping, and it didn't get put in SurePost, it's still USPS, and their tracking site tells me it should arrive tomorrow.

all around! Luckily I have no huge time sensitivities, so I'm able to relax and see what comes

Ack! We just placed a big order too, and they estimated it would be here by Monday. Now that estimation has disappeared, and there is no estimated delivery date. I really dislike UPS Sure Post. I've gotten things through them before on other sites, and it seems like it always takes longer. Seems silly too, why have 2 different delivery systems involved instead of just 1. I don't get it.

What would the advantage to EF be for using it? Maybe it's cheaper for them?

Oh no! I ordered today. I hope it doesn't go this route. I always order through USPS because they get things to me faster. UPS always takes much longer here, even without rerouting. This BLOWS. I don't want UPS involved in my packages - from Eden or elsewhere.

OMG, I see what you're talking about... I just went through some forums about it

Luckily a lot of people are saying it took 3-4 days longer, except when they were told that UPS was "backlogged" and couldn't turn the packages over to USPS for a few days, then they said it took 1-2 weeks longer!

FedEx has a very similar service, and it's really awful too. I hope EF will go back to regular old USPS after this trial. UPS Surepost sucks!

As someone who lives in a locked building, this doesn't sound pleasant. Our mail lady has a key to get in, but I play package-tag with the UPS guys a lot. Ugh

I always do USPS because I pick up at the post office. I don't trust packages being left where I live. It's unlikely they would be there when I got home.

I actually forgot about another package I ordered and it did get sent UPS Sure Post and it looks like it only added an extra day to my order. My package says it is already at my local UPS office. I would have been due today, but says it should arrive tomorrow.

I think my last order is going this route, curious to see how things turn out. I'm willing to wait on things but I hope that Eden's generally superb and fast shipping continues to be the norm.

I've had a lot of orders come in through this and stuff like Global Mail. I haven't had a problem with it. I guess it depends on how busy they are and the routing.

This is really USPS's fault, so I wouldn't hate on them for it. It's not their fault if UPS is taking forever to get the package to them.

But don't worry, if your package was sent this way, it will still be delivered as it's supposed to be through USPS. I was worried the first time a business used this service, because I have things send to a PO box that regular UPS+ doesn't deliver to, but it wasn't a problem.

Seems kind of pointless for EF, though. Just adding time. I would see this on international orders - to get the benefit of UPS/etcetera for easy pickup and overseas travel on their end with the convenience of USPS and PO box delivery on the state-side.

I don't like this either. I usually choose USPS, because they deliver on Sat. Now, my last order, which otherwise would have been here today or tomorrow, isn't going to be "estimated" until Tuesday.

I'm not happy with these changes, either.

Another problem I see here is for things like DR assignments where we only have 2 weeks before they're late. If it takes a week to get here, we only have a week to test and write a review!

I was trying to figure out why my orders were coming a day later than usual, and noticed the "Surepost" note on my UPS tracking. (I selected the regular UPS, though, not USPS.) It's especially annoying since I just checked the tracking, and my package arrived at the local UPS place at 6 this morning, and is just SITTING THERE till tomorrow. Do you think they'd mind if I showed up and was all "GIVE ME MY VIBRATOR!"?

Thanks for the heads up. This sounds like one incredibly stupid bs setup. Unless someone can shed some light to the possible benefits then I am skeptical. I just see this being a big headache for most people and a longer than necessary delay in waiting for packages.

I think I will now only order when its free next day on $100 plus.

We are trying out UPS Sure Post which means UPS picks up all packages and deliveries them to the closest Sort Facility and USPS makes the final delivery. The only exceptions are UPS Next Day or 2-Day, those will go only with UPS.

This is something we're trying out and definitely appreciate your feedback!

The last DR assignment I accepted was sent USPS, NOT surepost. And that was after a normal assignment was shipped surepost. So, maybe they considered that already?

I hope so!! I have a push assignment that was sent out yesterday that was UPS Surepost, it is estimated to get here next Friday. Normally it would have been here tomorrow or Monday at the latest. It probably depends on your location, I live in a rural area and the closest UPS facility is 92 miles away.

I requested my two DR assignments, which are on their way, to be sent USPS. They deliver on Sat and I could test them over the weekend. They are being sent UPS, evidently "SurePost" and they are in Chicago (while with regular UPS and regular USPS the stuff is sent AROUND the city to avoid delays, even though it's less than 30 miles from me) and now it's just.... sitting there. Not to be delivered until Tuesday.

Anyone who knows the mail and delivery system knows it can come through O'Hare, but NOT in the City proper. The City is a mess for deliveries and is usually avoided. Now my package is stuck in the mire that is Chicago.

Ridiculous. I don't like this system at all.

Same here, I think we should have been asked before it went this way. Now I have to wait until Tuesday versus Saturday.

Thanks for clarification. It sounded like USPS was handing off packages TO UPS.
