A lot of college kids...and indeed high school kids, seem to say "okay, I ONLY have oral or anal...so I am NOT having sex and am still a virgin too". Not sure all that is a great idea.

I am hearing from all kinds of folks at work and friends who agree. WOW..learn something new every day around here.

These kids are definitely using it as a term for the act.

We have now seen where some "teens" are writing it that way, consistently.

INTERESTING. Thanks for a historical context. I guess we were not in the loop on that internet trend, even though with work and play we LIVE on the computer. THANK YOU. SO many "in the know" people here...what an amazing group. We LOVE EF.

Sad thing is we LIVE on the Internet..and have so since it was developed. In fact, without going into detail, Mrs. Bignuf was VERY early computer adapter and was using Internet and developing Internet content and capability LONG before most folks here on EF were alive!!!!! There is just SO much "out there" that being on the Internet is like "being on earth"...you will NEVER see it all.

My (young) adult daughters call it this, followed by the requisite "EW!" in front of their mother. (If only they knew..... )

Yeah, my middle daughter and her friends have "surprise! butt secks!" stuff all over their Facebook pages... usually accompanied by one guy coming up behind an other and humping him... It's funny...

Yeah I've heard the term around work. A number of young girls in highschool are thinking that it sounds like a great idea. Have anal and still be a virgin, then they come to us because they are bleeding and have trauma from doing it wrong. It's really sad.

The slang originated in fandom, in reference to slash fanfiction. There's some sarcasm to the term, because in slash fanfiction, the males involved seem to be always be magically prepared for anal sex at all times, regardless of the situation, and they never ever seem to do anything else sexually.

A combination of fandom folks who have noted this obsession with that one sex act in slash have come to use that term -- gay men who know that anal penetration isn't the only form of sex enjoyed by gay men, people who prefer their fanfic to involve heterosexual or lesbian sex scenes, and people who are just plain annoyed that a certain segment of the population chooses to ignore all female characters, all plot development, and all other factors to go straight for teh Butt Secks!!1!

(It's often spelled with several exclamation points and a stray 1 to illustrate the hyperactive disregard for proper typing that's so often employed by certain squeeing fans who only care about hot guys screwing, and absolutely nothing else, so why are they bothering to watch a show that has a plot at all.)

I've only ever heard the term used in the fanfiction community online. I think it's a strange but funny way of expressing things. Definitely not a serious term though.

Sure not serious, but hearing it more, on a college campus.

I've heard this used before. As a college student myself, I think it is a stupid and immature way to refer to anal sex. Honestly, if my partner ever called it that, it would be a MAJOR turnoff.

I have ever since I was 15. I'm 22 now and the girls who would just randomly shout it out at the most worst times would get me laughing because they would actually try to reenact butt secks with their butts grinding against each other. I would be on the floor laughing so hard I wouldn't be able to breath because the face of the group home staff would just be unbelievable. I think one woman turned purple in the face before able to shout XD.

To be honest the first time I heard this term was in a book, I think one by Stephen King, but I can't remember which one. I don't really like the term and never use it myself. Not really sure about how common it is.

I was just thinking something a long the lines of this. I saw this term many years ago get popular on the internet. Most of the time people used it in joking terms because there was more humor behind it vs saying anal sex.

But I guess I didn't realize people are now starting to refer to it on a more serious level and meaning they want anal sex. I'm kind of indifferent to it, but if I was dating someone and they said "lets have butt secks" I would see it more of an immature term.

Yeah, I've heard this term before but only in a comical manner. I can't believe that some younger folks are taking it seriously.

Also: I feel like anal sex is still sex, sorry.

I'm right in the perfect college age that I hear this all the time.

Although in the groups I hang out with, anal is actually perceived as being kinkier than vaginal, and therefore is actually LESS common.

As someone who adores certain slash fiction (when done right), may I just say I love your interpretation of some of the fanfic that is out there?
