Do either you or your partner prefer to douche the booty before anal play to feel more confident/comfortable? If so, do you find it easy to do? My partner wants to have more play in this department, and he mentioned he would feel better doing this. I would even be willing to help him in the shower. It's just unfamiliar territory to me, so if you have experience, feel free to share any tips you have.

I do it privately, but a lot of people like to do it with their partners as a pre-game to sex. There are shower nozzles designed for douching to facilitate the process, so it may make things easier if you plan on doing it in the shower.

Isn't douching not really good for you?

Hmmm. I'm not sure. Since they have colon "washes", I wouldn't have thought this was a bad practice. May need to research this further.

I don't think vaginal douching and anal douching are the same thing. I don't think they have same rules applies either.

We have done anal for decades. We have never, ever had an "accident" or had any obvious "soiling" at all during or after anal play. Your rectum and anus are EMPTY unless you need to have a bowl movement, so that is NOT an issue.

The problem is that douche and enema's can wash out natural secretions and cause irritation and damage to the delicate intestinal lining. Not something you want to do very often, if at all.
A good scrub with soap of the outside and maybe a nice soapy finger in the anus is usually all we do, since we also do oral/anal play...in and out of the shower, but always after a good washing. He loves licking me and I love licking him back there, as part of oral play and prior to any penetration play by fingers or toys.
Just don't ever go anal to vaginal without a good cleaning and you should be fine. Make sure you have a bowl movement well before going to do anal play and your lower intestines should be pretty darn clear, if you have normal function there.
An inexpensive "Fleet's" enema from the drugstore can also, I guess, be used the first time you go anal, just to show you how clear you really are in there. One of my hubbies old girlfriends used to use one (she actually had HIM give it to her) prior to any anal play...which she too was very "into", so that would be a safe "one time" thing to try.
Enjoy!

I would be VERY careful about any attachment to a shower. Those can generate a lot of flow and potentially a lot of pressure. Both very dangerous in the anus/rectum. Something like a FLEETS bottle limits both pressure and volume appropriately....if you are going to do a washout at all (which we don't believe is really needed, or good for the tissues).

I would recommend doing it. Accidents do happen and it can completely ruin the evening.

I usually do a little manual cleaning out but I don't do much more than that.

It depends on your body, the time, and how deep you're planning to go.
If you do choose to take an enema, use only water (no soap, no chemical solutions, just water) and don't use too much. If you follow both these instructions then the adverse effects will be minimal.
Before doing anything it's good to get a feel for your body - figure out when things tend to move around. Immediately after eating is generally not a good time for buttplay.
Another thing to try is to test things out first. In private do a quick check with your finger or a toy - if it comes out clean then there's no problem. If it comes out with something on it then you might want to put off play or do something.
As far as equipment goes I don't like the shower-attached units. The bathtub is uncomfortable, and scrambling over it to the toilet could lead to accidents and injury. It's also too easy to put too much water in. Get a cleanable bulb, emptied drugstore enema squeezebottle, enema bag, or something called a "Higginson syringe" which is a one-way pump. Another alternative that you could try if you feel you need it are glycerine suppositories.

I always rinse/douche my ass out before play now. I like how it feels when I do and make bum play more fun for me. I don't have to worry about a mess this way.

You do have to be careful not to do it too often or much beyond a few bulb fulls. If you do it regularly with a high fibre diet and regular bm's you won't have any problems.

I've never done anything like that before anal play. I do, however, make sure that I know what my body is doing before going anal in a session. I make sure I've used the bathroom (though not recently) and that way everything will be more or less emptied. I've never had any noticeable accident or issue with it.
If my stomach is feeling even the slightest bit touchy, we do not go anal in that session. It's just a sometimes thing, so I just make sure I'm in touch with what's going on with my body.
ScottA gave great advice on how to clean things out safely if you really want to though!

Thanks for everyone's input. I had him look at the thread, and he was impressed with all of you! I think it's made him feel more confident and comfortable with the whole thing.

It's really not a big deal. Good luck and have fun!

the only time i have anal play is after a good enema from my shower nozzle. i usually put low pressure and fill up slightly more water each time and then jump around and shake a bit (think washing machine exercise in school) to scrub it around. then evacuate into toilet.
a few notes,
1. you must evacuate a few times and be sure to stand AND squat to remove any leftover water.
2. not sure if you got it all? invest in a LOOONG dildo, double dildos are usually best and fuck yourself a bit after the enema to open up any hidden pockets you may have missed. I HATE it when i am ready to go and then a bunch of contaminated water comes out after just a few thrusts.
3. after a thorough cleaning you will notice some "natural" almost clear lubricant in your ass, this is awesome and makes anal sex all the better (i can get away with solo anal using only spit and anal grease.
HAVE FUN!
