I would like to try anal. I tried it before and it was so painful I could not enjoy it. Is there any tips to make it more pleasurable and both of us will enjoy?

I was thinking about getting a few drinks in me before we try so I can relax. I dont know if that is a good idea or not.

Any tips will be great!

Well drinks and other thing "help" a little when you're already into it. Otherwise there is not really much use of it unless you go completely "sh*tfaced"

I'd take it easier and would start exploring myself before engaging into anal sex. You have to learn your anatomy and discover what you like in this respect and how you get there. The pain is a sign that you have defenetely rushed into it and did not prepare a lot. For the start I'd recommend to get clean and very aroused, an orgasm would be defenetely a good thing. Then start with a dildo like the ones below or similar, it depends on the materials you like:

Don't rush get comfortable and try different positions, angles, sizes, etc... After a few sessions you should be quite comfortable with anal penetration.

A good thing to prepare for anal sex is a butt plug, there is a variety of them on the market and gain you will figure out through trial and error what you like best. I have said this before and will say it again, here, I am sure. I am NOT into pain, just PLEASURE and anal does NOT have to be painful. For us, we like being STONE COLD SOBER so we know what is going on during sex, especially anal.

Now, having said that, for me, COMFORT is all about LUBE, more LUBE and then LOTS MORE LUBE. Then, once done lubing, add EXTRA LUBE. We have gone through TWO tubes of lube in an afternoon. SO what? Greatly worth it.

Now, position is the next issue for me. The porn star "doggy style" DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, at all. Never did.

I lay on my left side, with my right leg pulled up and he can either "spoon me" from behind or better yet, I am at the edge of the bed, butt hanging over and he stands next to the bed, behind me, and penetrates me that way.

The other way, our total favorite, is me with my butt on a pillow (something like Liberator Heart or Jazz) and SLIGHTLY hanging over edge of bed. He stands at edge of bed, so I am on my back, with my feet on his shoulders or over his shoulders, and he penetrates me anally (or vaginally) that way. He can look in my eyes, play with my boobs and clit, penetrate me with toys or fingers vaginally if he is in my tush, whatever. It goes DEEP and COMFORTABLE.
