I can't really offer a perspective from the view point of not having a uterus, but I do know that I have often felt contractions in my uterus during orgasm (it was most especially pronounced when I was pregnant). So I can certainly see there would be a difference without that contraction feeling.

Hopefully your orgasm is still satisfactory, but just different?

Thanx Laurel. Yeah, I think you are right, I was experiencing contractions, and now I don't. Hhhhhmmmmmm, it is taking some getting used to. I defintely missed it badly at first but I am trying to feel lots of other sensations now and concentrate on the clitoris etc. This website is helping a lot because there is so much to learn about and so many gadgets to aid oprgasm that I am sure that I will soon forget the old contractions. But at first I was devestated, to be honest, I really did feel I had lost something important. But I spoke to 3 psychologists and they all dismissed me!!!!

So I appreciate your reply, you have confirmed that I wasn't making it up!!

It's really disappointing that the psychologists dismissed you. What happened to you is a serious change in your life - hopefully with a positive approach you will find new ways to fulfillment. The human body can be amazingly adaptable.

Godspeed and good luck.

Thanx Gunsmoke. I think their dismissal is actually the hardest thing I have had to deal with! Bodies are adaptable, they can't grow new wombs though. However I am sure I will find ways of still enjoying myself.

Did you have your ovaries removed also? Once hormone levels drop, orgasm intensity can drop too.

I had a hysterectomy, including removal of ovaries, 5 years ago. My orgasms don't feel any different. I know what you mean about the contractions. I worried that orgasms wouldn't be as strong without a uterus, but they seem to be. If I hold my hand on my abdomen, I can still feel the contraction. I thought I wouldn't w/o a uterus.

I've also started doing kegels every day. I strongly recommend that. You don't need a kegel exercisor. You can just squeeze numerous times/day. I try to vary it, squeezing many times for 2 seconds each, or doing fewer repetitions but squeezing as hard as I possibly can for 10 seconds. It takes weeks of regular kegeling before you notice a difference, but slowly they do become stronger.

Also, you might want to have your hormone levels checked. If they're out of balance or too low, that can affect orgasm.

Thanx Tuesday. I still have my ovaries. I am 45 and I had some endometriosis on them but they managed to get it off without wrecking the ovaries so luckily they left them in there. I am glad your orgasms don't feel any different! Maybe this is hopeful. I just got a big shock when i had my first after the operation cos it just tried to go upwards and had nowhere to go!!

I do think that I am also feeling low after the operation so I am not at my peak emotional condition by anymeans. So that does make a difference too.

I do some kegels but not as many as you are saying!! I would like to get an excerciser to help remind me to do them. I think I will get my hormones checked too, I have thought about that. Never hurts to get checks.

Great to hear from someone who has been thru it and feels AOK!!

A friend of mine had a hysterectomy with one ovary removed. She told me her orgasms feel the same too.

I had my ablation and tubal ligation back in August. I feel different. I don't notice ovulation as much, even though I'm technically still supposed to ovulate (aren't I?)... I'm noticeably less horny, but hey...NO MORE PERIODS!

When I cum though, they feel just as good. I'm just having a harder time getting worked up and wet.

Hey, PassionQT, that was about the same time I had my hysterectomy! Now, with an ablation and ligation you should not have any hormonal changes at all .... so I am wondering if it is not just the stress of the surgery that might effect sexual response?? Yes, you should still be ovulating!

I am going to try having infra red Light therapy on my abdomen around the scar and area of my pubic bone to maybe try and get blood back in there and get hte nerve endings working. I am pretty sure I won't feel the same as I used to but I think it will help me anyway.

Orgasms are different for me after my hysterectomy, but better at the same time! I don't get the cervical waves or uterine spasms that I used to, but the clitoral and g-spot ones are way better and come much easier now.

My hyst was Feb 2011. I kept my ovaries, but my hormone levels of Vitamin D were low. Taking 2000 mg has helped (doc prescribed level).

I had my hysterectomy at 22, I am 41 now, due to endometriosis and ovarian csnacer was found on the lab work. Watch out for endometriomas!! They are endometrial growths that attach under the skin and form a small to large tumor. They are fairly rare but highly uncomfortable and painful.

My cervix was removed, uterus, fallopians and one ovary. It takes a bit more to get wet, but the orgasms are amazing. The longer the time after the removal and more orgasms you have, the more confident you will become with your body and orgasms.

Benefit 1. They do not hurt!! 2. No monthly bs. 3. More extreme orgasms with confidence. 4. G-spots are very pleasurable and are easier to obtain. 5. Squirting!!!Due to harder orgasms.

Give yourself time for hormonal and emotional adjustments, gain confidence in your new orgasms and yourself and just enjoy pain-free sex and orgasms.
