Semen texture varies widely for me from day to day. Sometimes its thick - but that means that I'm not well hydrated and need to drink more water. Maybe your husband is a little too well hydrated (if there is such a thing).
When I feel 'normal' there is some texture - but after ejaculation is seems to 'melt' and become watery.

My ex's was watery, husband's is thick like glue... I think it depends more on the sperm count than on anything else..simply because they were consistent.
