But What About No Sex- Asexual Awareness!

Asexual Awareness and Visibility Network

I feel that people should be educated about the less known sexualities: Asexuality and Demisexuality, as well as the Grey-a group. I've noticed that people tend to not understand these particular sexualities and occasionally even look down on them. It bothers me, so I thought I'd share this education resource with the community.

I have definitely heard of asexuals, but not demisexuals or the Grey-a group. Curious as to what those are?

I think asexuality, like bisexuality, is pretty misunderstood. Glad you shared the link. Curious if anyone here actually identifies themselves as asexual?

I'm Demi. Demisexals form close emotional relationships with people before they feel sexual attraction to them. I thought I was Asexual for the longest time, before my Lover and I started dating.

I'm also a Demi. I identified as Asexual from ages 12 to 22, but realized it wasn't quite right.

Awesome! I've only met one other Demi, possibly 2. It's cool to meet someone else. Nice to meet ya!

I do not identify as any of these sexualities, but I am really happy you posted the information! It should be just as accepted as any other sexual orientation, and it does seem to be looked down on sometimes, imo. Sexual education is always good and tends to breed tolerance. Thank you for sharing this information!

Cool, I'm glad I could spread a little awareness and that there are other Demis and Grey-A's on Eden.

I am writing a paper on asexuality, and the research I've done so far is BLOWING MY MIND. I love the community and support that asexuals have created, and I want there to be more visibility for this issue.

I'm actually married to a Gray-A. Unfortunatly I was not made aware of this until after we got married. It's been very difficult for me and I've finally accepted that the only way to maintain our marriage and my sanity was to re-condition my mind to not be sexually attracted to my wife in any way. It took me years to accomplish this and it felt great to finally not want to have sex with her. Now we're like room mates raising kids. About six times a year she actually gets horney and I have to have sex with her.

Asexual here! I've called myself bisexual and fuctionally asexual for the longest time, before finding out that asexual was actually an orientation, and one that made sense.
