I'm not sure if my depression is making this happen, but I am usually the one to want sex like 4 times a day. Now for the past 4 days, I'm just not feeling it? Has anyone had this happen to them?
Ever get it a rut of not wanting sex?

I feel for you. Mention it to your doctor. this may be something physical. I have not had it happen to me, but believe me, I know a bit about human anatomy and biochemistry and there are a lot of physical, not just emotional, issues that could be at play. A good internist, not just your GYN, may be able to help you a lot.

I haven't, but it's not uncommon, especially if you're dealing with depression. I agree that talking with your doctor might be a good idea. Are you on any type of anti-depressants? I had some sexual issues when I was on Zoloft. I hope you get it figured out!

It has happened to me more than once. When it happens its for a very long time. Normally you can count it by months once it was years!

Funny you should ask. I was in a 6 year rut where I didn't give a damn whether or not I got any. Then after I moved to Ohio I was getting it regular for almost a year. Now I don't care if I get any again.

I get in ruts all the time, It's normal!

I usually do not have sex on my period so for the first few days after I just don't want it because I'm use to not doing it
04/08/2013
I'm this way all the time. In fact, 9 times out of 10, the sex is for my husband because it's not fair for me to withhold from him.

I didn't used to but as I have gotten older and have more going on I find myself getting into this type of rut every couple of months. Usually lasts a few weeks then I'm back to normal.

It doesn't happen to me - but it does happen to my wife. It use to last a long time - now the episodes are fairly short 3-4 days.

Yes, I get like that when I'm very depressed as well. It also happens if I'm ill.

It happens to me too. A birth control pill once killed my libido entirely. But there are times when I'm just not feeling it too.

It is probably due to your depression when I am in a funk so to speak my sex drive goes in reverse if you take meds you might need them adjusted or you might need to get on an anti depressant. good luck to you.

My drive will vary depending on my moods. I do want less when I am feeling overwhelmed and stressed.
04/09/2013
Depression certainly does that (as does pills taken for depression)
04/09/2013
Rarely, but it does happen.

depending on what type of depression you have and if you experience mixed mood disorder and mania that could have an effect on your libido. I know when in a state on mania, and it's really common amount those who are bipolar (like myself), i am wanting to have sex as often as possible and as many times in a day as i can - when in a depressive state that will change and i'll not want to be seen or touched by anyone let alone want to have sex.
I have been medicated now for ever seven years and havent experienced a server mania episode in years, but sill there are days/weeks when i will want sex more often and days where i dont wany any at all.

Yes, I get this once in a while, I think it's hormonal for me. Depression can also have a big impact on sex drive as well.

I hate the ruts usually try to bust them in some way.

Yes, I can go a few days without my normal drive. I have thought it was one of maybe three things. First, just mild depression or stress from something else going on. Two, I'm in my later thirties, so I figured it was natural that I would not have the drive I had 10 years ago. Third, and possibly the biggest, my wife without question has a lower libido than me and she is much less adventurous. When I've had high hopes of a spicy night and she says she is tired early in the evening or I can tell she has ultra vanilla sex on her mind, I sort of tune out. A few times she has noticed something was wrong, but I don't want to tell her. She gets pretty defensive.

I have been in a 9 year rut after i lost my first born daughter Just got back into it about a year ago..Also started depression meds about a year ago. They made it impossible to achieve an orgasm so I had them switched..Now I have been good for the past year, with no med change. Then this past week I lost it. although my depression seems to be getting alittle worse.
Also, how do you know if you have bi polar. what are the signs?

My anti-depressant pills make me have a very low libido.

it's hard to know for sure without being a licensed psychologist and having a sit down conversation with you. The main criteria of bipolar disorder though is having one or more episodes of mania or hypomaina often followed by a state of depression. Here is a link with the current DSM criteria for bipolar one and two. For me, manic episodes would often turn into what my former doctor would call "rage attacks" where i would become increasingly angry and easily agitated when manic before going into a depression, but thats not to say that i was always angry or violent when manic, but the biggest reason why i had to become medicated. But if you think some of this may apply to you, you may want to discuss this with a doctor and get rediagnosed since many mood disorders crossover and share symtoms and critera.

Have you seen anyone recently to talk with them about how you feel your depression may be getting bad again as well as mentioning how youve become uninterested in sex?
Also do you feel there may have been an incident that triggered your recent lack of intrest in sex?
