Because in America, we don't have vacations. In many places, vacations (real ones) are mandatory, and people often work fewer hours.

Because they aren't as hung up about it like we are due to our Puritanical background. Several foreign friends have commented that Americans are downright prudish.

I'll bet that Spain and Japan are on the top of the list. With Italy and France coming in right behind them.
