That sounds a little risky. How long after you met online did you meet in person?

I don't think I'd do this.

My husband! We met on the internet, 2 months later we met in person. We dated for 2 years before we got married. Our 3 year wedding anniversary is in June. I don't regret it at all. Had I not taken a chance and met him I would've missed out on some of the best years of my life!

I watch too much Law and Order and Criminal Minds to do this... just a bit too scared.

Oddly, I thought I would never do this. Then last October I started chatting with someone I met on a Message Board. They live a couple states away, so I didn't think we would ever meet in person, let alone have any chemistry. Turns out you can convey chemistry just as easily via chat as you can with talking in person. We made arrangements to finally meet as friends in person at an event we both wanted to go to so there would be no pressure if we didn't like each other once we met. Chatting increased and so did the flirting and the trust. By the time we met it was more like old lovers who had been separated for months rather than two people who had never met in person.

It was some of the best sex I have ever had. We seemed to know exactly what to do to turn each other on immediately and resulted in several multi-hour, multi-orgasmic encounters in a long weekend.

Now, we just have to figure out how and when we can get together again.

My relationship is online. We knew each other casually for a few years, then dated several months before a meeting. I brought up the idea of meeting, so I felt a little safer about it that way than I would if he had pushed for it. Met in public before going anywhere private, my roommate knew where I was going. It worked very well. Working on another visit in August/September!

I have a handful of times. I plan on meeting up with one soon, that I have known online for 10 years now.

And I plan on meeting my Master in the near future.

I have met a couple of others I had known online for a month or two. Even online, I'm pretty good at judging what someone is like and I won't meet up until I feel confident and safe enough to do so.

It's on my terms, or it doesn't happen!

I met my soulmate Miguel online...
I think the key is just to be honest with what you are really looking for.

I used a dating website. I screened guys before I met them, and made sure the intent wasn't a hook-up before we agreed to a first date. I wasn't interested or aiming in a NSA type of thing at the time.
It was a little scary at times, too, but for the most part it was an awesome way to meet some very interesting people.
I had a few shorter relationships- like up to 3mos.. And a guy whom I dated on/off for over 6mos and was a great friend for a long while.

I've known people who hook up online, just for sex, and I know people who have dated and had long relationships that all started with a website.

I would be too worried to do that. Even though nothing would probably go wrong.

Seems most of my relationships have been ... ex-husband whom I met on a fansite in 1999 (although sex never entered into it, even when married) ... few months ago I tried a local dating site, met a guy, had a hot and heavy evening, then he dumped me soon after ... now a British dating site has delivered unto me a Master whom I've really connected with and is coming here to see me in less than a month. We agreed to keep it friendly with no sexual expectations ... though this will be difficult.

This is definitely me. I would be even more hesitant after reading an article about a woman who got raped by someone she met on a dating site.

She: We're each other's firsts and we met pretty much before the Internet (not to mention puberty) so online hooking up wasn't really an option.

He: The Internet was around wayy before you. I was on AOL before I even met you.

She: Nerd

Update!
She: We looked it up and we did meet after the Internet, but it was just a baby when we met for the first time. So there!

He: Look up ARPANET

She: It's old... 1977. But it doesn't count because it's not called "Internet" yet.

He: Look up "World Wide Web" then.

She: You suck.

I dated a former SO after talking to then on aim for a while. I'm not sure if it really counts since I knew that person prior to chatting through school but never hung out. But the talking and dating portion began online. It lead to a fairly long relationship.

I wouldn't do this personally, but I use fb and such to make arrangements with people I already know.

I have no intentions of this, I am way to scared of meeting random people in the internet. I feel like I will wake up half dead.
