Increased sex drive on antidepressants?

Contributor: amplified to rock amplified to rock
I know that decreased sex drive or decreased ability to orgasm is a pretty common effect of a lot of antidepressants. But when I started on Lexapro last summer, my sex drive went off the charts! It's leveled out some since then, but it's still a net positive.

Has anyone else experienced this on an AD, especially on an SSRI?

Both Lexapro and Celexa have done that to me.

More specifically, Wellbutrin (AD, but not SSRI) made me want to sit on everything. It was awesome! I was horny all the time. Bahaha.

I did have that happen to me with one medication I was on for a while as a teen, except it was also coupled with a decreased ability to orgasm. It was an effing nightmare... Thankfully the meds I'm on now don't seem to affect me much either way

Huh, I'm on Wellbutrin, but I haven't noticed any difference... But then I'm just naturally horny all the time XD

Zoloft absolutely killed mine while I was on it (there were YEARS in which I didn't even masturbate). I'm on Welbutrin now, which has made it "okay". When I had a period of time in which I wasn't on anything, I could get off just by thinking about sex (downside is that I wasn't pleasant enough to find anyone who wanted to take advantage of it with me). The Welbrutrin has calmed me down, but at least it hasn't killed my libido.

I've been on a couple anti-d's and seem to get every side effect except death. I've never heard of increased libido. I could have a herd of super models show up naked and it wouldn't do a thing for me.

I'm on Celexa, Welbutrin, Neurontin and Cymbalta (yeah, it's a lot). I have decreased libido from them, not sure which though. Now I'm happy with sex 3 days per week. An additional good and bad thing is that I can go forever.

My anxiety meds tend to decrease my sex drive for a while and then kick it up a lot when I've been on them steadily for a few months.

I'm on Prozac, and it's basically made me unable to orgasm. Celexa did too, when I was on it. I tried all Wellbutrin all of two days, and that shot my libido sky high - I had to discontinue it for other reasons, though, and a sky-high libido is not a good thing when your boyfriend is a firm believer in no sex before marriage. (I didn't pressure him to do anything, but there was a whole lot of frustration going on in those two days, especially considering Prozac's effect on me, which I was taking at the same time. It also led to him breaking up with me.)

Lucky! I hated how I felt when I was on it. I had a hard time getting off which was hard on both my husband and myself. Not good, so I decided to figure it out on my own. It was making me more depressed that we were struggling in that situation.
