Sex Fact: Tips to Get Pregnant

Contributor: Kayla Kayla
Do you want to get pregnant? There are some things that a guy can do to help.

He should maintain proper weight and exercise as a smaller waist size will increase testosterone which will result in better fertility. A well-balanced diet helps with fertility, and lower cholesterol levels are also associated with better penis function. Exercise will help increase muscle mass and increase the blood flow to the penis, so it can be good for fertility. During intercourse, you should also avoid thick lubricants as they can decrease sperm movement and make it harder to conceive.

Well a tip that I have for getting pregnant which has worked on all of our cousins (6 of them) is to use a menstrual cup (disposable) and have the man ejaculate in it and quickly insert it and leave it in over night. It has worked for literally 6 of my cousins who were having trouble conceiving. My husband and I are already trying to have a child but we're having trouble and we plan to use this method in 3 months when my birth control has fully worn off. I guess you're supposed to wait a while for your body to get back in whack. Awesome article!

When we got ready to conceive, we had a long list given to us by my mom and friends. Some like has been suggested and others like, "Elevate your ass after sex to keep the sperm inside", stuff like that. lol

The wife went off the pill the last day of February, on my birth day, March 9th, she conceived. So much for a long wait for the pill to leave her system. We did not even get to try any of the suggestions, I got birth day sex and she got pregnant.

If you're trying to time your ovulation, have sex several days beforehand. Sperm can be viable in a woman up to 7 days, so start having sex 1 week before you ovulate and then every other day.

It was more like what I did to conceive- putting my legs up afterwards, watching my own weight, etc.

I don't know if you're stalking me or what but I did just post in my blog yesterday about starting to try to conceive our second child.

We didn't even have to try with the first, I just didn't have insurance so I didn't think I could get birth control and her dad says "Well I don't mind if you do get pregnant" we had actually just met and I wasn't planning to have kids any time soon but for some reason this statment turned me on SO much that we had unprotected sex for a few months and then I got pregnant.

So I hope I'm as lucky this time around. I'm charting my cycle to detect ovulation. IUD comes out in just under a month.

I already had my kids, had hysterectomy by age 35 due to cancer of uterine lining, I can not have kids anymore. However we did not need any tricks to get pregnant we did that three times, had one miscarriage, and two girls.

The only thing I did when I wanted to get pregnant was putting a pillow under my butt, and stay in that position for like twenty minutes after my husband shot his load into me. I believe that helps the little sperms to reach their destination a little easier.

I also want to add that you have to be quick when inserting the cup. My cousin Sandra was really bad at this so it took her three or four times trying this for it to work. Thankfully she had sex a few nights in a row, so it wasn't something that took a whole lot of time. It is actually a doctor approved method, and my doctor suggested it to me when I told him I would like to start trying to have children.

The elevating the ass thing is apparently just as useful as doing the splits right side up. My doctor literally spoke the words "Keeping your legs straight up in the air is not proven useful so don't waste your time trying that method. All you will do is hurt your back."

I do know that making the room temperature cold is supposed to help and like another mentioned, having sex for the entire week before ovulation and during is key because it's hard to tell which day you are most fertile.

Great post! =) I'll use any tips I can get when I start trying to conceive again.

I'm glad I didn't try long enough the first time. I was so young & I feel better about starting a family once I hit my early 30's.

I had to prop my but up in the air too. The other thing is have your man wear boxers instead of briefs or better yet none. the cooler the testicles the more sperm.

I had some infertility issues with my first husband but not with my Master. I went off the pill and six weeks later I was pregnant. Happened very fast.

I guess we were very lucky when we wanted to have children, as we never had to "try" to conceive. I got pregnant the first time the very first time we had sex without protection, and that's pretty much been the norm for us. (We both came from Catholic families, mine Celtic and Mediterranean and his Eastern European, all known as fertile people.)

My Man is thin, and has a narrow waist. Aside from that, he does have high cholesterol, but fairly high muscle mass.

Other things that can help is to let the testes stay cool. Boxers, or going commando, as well as not wearing tight jeans or pants will help keep the testes cool and help with sperm formation and function. Also, avoiding hot baths, Jacuzzis etc can also keep sperm formation and function.

We aren't trying right now, but when we are we might try some of these ideas.

I have acually been worried that I was pregnant and took a test yesterday, thankfully it said I wasn't pregnant. I love babies, but I'm not ready yet.

we're not there yet. and when we are, i think at first, we'll just stop not trying. my brother and his wife dealt with infertility for years (and are finally preggo), so i know the steps i have to take if it comes to that. these are great tips! health is very important!

We tried for 15 years to get pregnant. Now I don't have insurance to help with the costs of the treatments so it's over. We've done everything in the list and sooooo much more! It's absolutely insane! We've reached the point where it's gonna start costing thousands of dollars for treatments each cycle. Of course, you always hope it happens on the first try, but I don't have that kind of luck. I'd love to adopt, but we don't qualify. I'm learning to deal the fact that we're never gonna have kids.
