I've noticed that a lot of erotica and porn comprise of tanned women and men and there is very little in the way of paleness. Is this a conscious choice of producers/photographer s? Or is it just part of the lifestyle of the models? Has it influenced who you're attracted to? Or do you just don't care about such stuff?

It depends.
I like natural skin tones. If someone is dark naturally, then I think it is fine.
If someone is pale naturally, and just spends a lot of time in the sun without sunscreen it's a turn off to me. Taking care of your body is a turn on to me, protecting your skin is under that same umbrella.
As for the actual color though, that's really not the issue for me, at all. All colors are beautiful.

My only dislike is that fake orange tan look. I am not a big fan of tanning personally, but if your natural skin color is dark, then that's not an issue at all. I just don't like tanning because of the skin damage involved. (and I think tan lines just look goofy lol)

I looove pale. my girlfriend is super white. I think you will find much more in way of pale skintone on alternative modeling/porn sites honestly! I dont mind a tan skin tone either but NOT orange!

I think some of it is due to what society thinks is an "average" perfect body. And the rest of it is just what the people already tend to have/do that join the porn industry. Too many factors involved and that's even before casting, directing, and film industry puts in their opinions.
But I prefer "natural". It can be lightly enhanced and still be nice, of course. But super unnatural coloring is just crazy and unattractive! If you're naturally blonde, don't tan until you're the color of my tea. If your hands turn orange when you apply your tan, already a bad sign. And if you're dark, love yourself and enhance that and stay away from bleaching! Generally people look amazing with what they already naturally have.
But I'm pale too with plenty of tiny freckles and VERY easily blushing cheeks.

I think there are market studies with surveys and they just choose the cover or cast the person based on the highest number of responses.

People with naturally darker skin look better with.....naturally darker skin. I'm not fond of "tans" all that much on light skinned people.
I actually, in women who are naturally light skinned I like to see nice alabaster skin.
I'm a mix of Mediterranean and Celtic. So, I have an olive base, and with no sun, lightish skin. It makes for a strange skin color. I used to get asked if I was "a mulatto" when I was a kid, (which even then, I thought was rude people needed to know "What are you?") because when I get into the sun, the Mediterranean darkness really comes out. Now, if I get sun, and the fact that I have black hair, people often assume I am Latina, and I often get spoken to in Spanish.
I get embarrassed, as my Spanish is atrocious. People often will almost be surprised with me, "You're not Latina?" When I had my last baby, my Latina roomate's sweet MIL started talking to me in Spanish and I had to explain to her I simply didn't speak Spanish. She said, "You're not Latina?" I had to say no. She smiled and said, "That's OK... HI!"

I like natural. If someone's skintone is naturally light or dark, that's fine. Even if someone happens to become naturally tanned from working outdoors, etc, that's also fine. But those who are naturally fair and tan on purpose? No, your skin looks sickly.

On others, I just like to see natural skintone, whatever their ethnicity is. I just think that fake tans, super tanning bed tans, and sun tanning until one looks like a cheap leather handbag is effing nasty.

It depends on the person, some people look great pale and others look better tan. I will say that I hate the fake tanned look. A lot of people that I see end up with an orange tint and that isn't attractive on anyway.

I don't typically care if someone is tan or not unless it is OBVIOUSLY an unnatural color for them.

Personally I think it depends on the person. Im too fond of anyone who is over tanned or "baked" as I like to call it. No Jersey Shore tan. My husband is kinda tan naturally and always tans in the summer. He grew up in California surfing all the time, so he would get real tan. Mmm....delicious...
I am SUPER pale (the only thing I dont like about being Irish). In the summer Im white, in the winter I am blinding white. HAHA. My husband on the other hand, loves my skin color.
