Just another one of my fun, but sexual based "What If" questions.

The economy is tough right now and you just lost your job or you simply need extra cash. The local university art department is hiring nude models for their "Nude Painting 101" class, and they need people of all ages, sizes and genders. If you're willing to pose fully nude, the job is yours, and it pays $100 per one hour long class. You're told that you can pose for up to three classes a day, six days a week. The only job description is that you must pose nude in whatever position the professor chooses for that class. Your contract states that no cameras of any type will be allowed in the classroom, but each students painting will portray you to the best of that students ability. Furthermore, only the professor and art students will be allowed in the room and the door will be kept locked.

Would you be a nude model for a college art class, possibly earning $1,800 a week for the entire semester?

For the record, you are aware that there's nothing sexual about being a nude model for an art class, right? It's just for the students to practice drawing figures, because drawing people with no clothes is easier and allows you to see the shape of the body and muscles and such. I'm not entirely sure what the process is for hiring models, but I'm pretty sure being aroused by it is generally frowned upon because it makes the students uncomfortable.

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound accusatory. I just find that it's a pretty common misconception that nude model painting is something sexual when in reality it's usually nothing more than just drawing anatomy.

No apology needed, I understand your point. I guess I'm looking at it from an amateurs point of view and not a professional models.

I would do it especially if I was able to eventually keep some of the art. I've attended a figure drawing class and there was nothing sexual about it. I was a guest of the figure model so my sketches were half stick figures and half trying to draw anatomy (I was a chemistry major at the time).

At my school, most of the models were other college student volunteers. I was surprised to see one of my friends show up as the model. She was quite overweight & hirsute & thought nothing of posing nude; I was really envious of her confidence!

No matter how accepting I am about other's nudity, I can't get past my own inhibitions about my body. As I look now, I would NEVER pose nude, even for a million dollars -- I'm serious, I would lose my mind long before the hour was up. In college, I considered it, but it turned out the positions were hard to come by.

My father is a college art and design professor (now retired.) He hired many models in his years teaching Life Drawing. Male models, for some reason were always given a "sack" to put their junk in and if they got aroused, they were asked to leave the room and were not asked back.

I have a cousin who used to model for Life Drawing Classes (not for my Dad's classes, that would have been creepy) and she said it was the farthest thing from arousing. In fact, she said she fell asleep several times during the classes, and said she got a lot of muscle cramps from holding poses for long periods of time. In some colleges, women are given a G String like panty to wear and in some they are not. But, this was back when everyone had pubic hair. Now that a lot of people are shaving their pubes, G Strings and "sack sacks" are used more frequently, so that genitals are not seen in the class.

My dad said he actually had to call Security a few times, because his Life Drawing classes were closed classes and there were always a few creepy people wanting to sit it or even look through the side light on the door.

It's actually a pretty boring job, but it pays well. Usually most models don't work more than one class two or three times a week. Most professors only teach one Life Drawing class per semester, and they don't tend to share models.

I think I would be nervous at first because I am a little insecure but as an artist I would love the fact I'm helping to contribute to art. I know how much easier it is to draw people when i can see a naked figure and the clothes do not get in my way.

Wouldn't mind doing it, but all the calls for nude models at my college wanted "weight-height proportionate". (Florida is a bit more body-obsessed than most places.) And they paid only $50 for only one session.

Im a female, I'd do it for the money, I dont care what I'd need to do as long as I got paid, I'd make as much as possible, even ask about a full time job. I'd want a painting of me!

I really don't know. Other than being embarrassed I'm not sure I could hold the poses. Posing for long periods of time without moving can be hard.

I've had nude art classes and although it's a professional setting, it's still awkward. I couldn't be nude with utter strangers that I might see again.

As a former art student I have drawn many nude models. There is nothing sexual about it for the students or at least to me there wasn't. You're really just looking at the shapes, lines and shadows on the model's body. To me it was always my favorite class to take. It's so relaxing to just sit/stand and draw. I really miss it.

If someone has the opportunity to earn good money out it, I say go for it. There is nothing seedy about it and nobody will judge your body. More lumps and bumbs the better! Trust me.
