breasts and sex

Contributor: Gallowraven Gallowraven
there have been some polls about breasts recently, in regards to being comfortable with them, and whether or not one should or should not go braless in public. what I find fascinating, is that the purpose of the organ is to feed our babies.
My thoughts are that even though, all our lives we have been taught that breasts are a sexual item. 16 year old boys are fascinated by them because it is "taboo" and "sexual" while yes you can get sexual pleasure/arousal from touching or fondling them, but you can also get sexual pleasure/arousal from kissing/touching/rubbi ng other "non sexual" parts of the body. what makes the built-in baby feeding system so different? is it just a social stigma, or am I missing something else?

fun little trivia:
Zoologists point out that no female mammal other than the human has breasts of comparable size, relative to the rest of the body, when not lactating and that humans are the only primate that has permanently protuberant breasts.

Maybe it's because that's the one part of female that is so different from men (with clothes on) and so it attracts all that attention? True you can get sexual arousal from say, caressing a neck or a wrist, but both sexes have those.

I agree, I think that it's that they are so different. But then I guess that argument loses its validity when you consider same-sex relationships. I'm sure at least part of the attraction comes from what we are raised to think, though. If culture portrayed ankles as super-sexy and a bit taboo, maybe men would be fascinated by those, too.

It's a fertility thing. Men are attracted to women with large breasts and broad hips because they will be more capable of birthing multiple children.

Your question brings up another - how many women actually enjoy breast play. For the longest time my wife says it did nothing for her - she'd rather I just get to the 'main event'. I will qualify this by saying that many other women I dated enjoyed my technique - so I don't think it's because I'm inept. I'm thinking after children women have a different view of their breasts.

How many women actually want their partners to play with their breasts?

Dis having children change your attitude? If so, how?

In a study of several hundred societies, only 13 found breasts more sexual than other body parts that had nothing to do with sexual relations.

All of the societies which found breasts sexually stimulating had very low rates of infant breastfeeding. Societies with high levels and long periods of breastfeeding did not find the breast sexual. I think these men got it when they needed it and didn't need to revisit it. Also, they were cognizant of the breast as an infant feeding organ and didn't see it as more sexual than anything else. Not that it was never played with during sex, but the breast is not focused on like it is here in our low breastfed rate society.

I think our answer is right there.

Gun, for years, while my children were breastfeeding and for several years after, I did not enjoy breast play a lot. It took about 8 years after my last one was born, and about 4 years after she weaned for me to enjoy it again.

While I was breastfeeding (which has taken about 8 years of my adult life, with all my kids included) I did not like breast play at all. They leaked, they were lumpy, I was worried that milk would come out (My Man said he didn't care, I felt it was not something I enjoyed.) I simply would leave my bra on during sex (wow, fun) but it got better, only after I changed my attitude toward sex, my kids were grown enough so that they were not the 99.99% focus of my life and My Man and I reconnected that I enjoyed breast play again.

Hope is there.

I watched a special on this very thing many many years ago. According to historians, breasts were developed as they were to draw a man's interest to the woman's face (i.e. emotions) and not just her posterior (sex). It is believed in ancient society's a man would approach a woman and mount her from behind. When women started to grow tired of this and civilizations were coming into play, the human anatomy adapted.

How much of this is true, well we'll never really know will we? But, it is an interesting theory nonetheless.

Why they are sexualized so strongly today probably has to do with how taboo they were according to the church. It's the first physical representation of a sexual maturity in a woman that a man (or person) sees of the female body and the imagination launches from there. In pagan Rome, women often walked around topless and breastfed openly. When the church invaded Roman society, all of that began to change and with it came centuries of shaming and demands that a woman's body be covered.

It's called evolution...

Men are attracted to hips because it means a woman can more easily deliver a baby. Men like boobs because plump boobies hold lots of milk for our offspring to eat.
Men like lips because they resemble the female reproductive organs.

Even guys like me, who like normally "non-sexual" body parts such as feet, like them because they resemble the curves and femininity of women. If you look at a girls soles while she flexes her feet, the arches look very much like the hourglass figure of a woman's body.

I don't consider myself a boob guy by any means, but I still can't help but stare and touch them pretty often.

P'Gell - seems my wife may be on your schedule - or maybe a little slower. She is starting to enjoy breast stimulation again and I'm trying to get her to use some non-piercing nipple jewelry. I have ordered one that has a string of pearls connecting them to see if the combination opens her curiosity.

Do you - or would you use nipple jewelry or clamps?

My partner really enjoys breast play even though she is breastfeeding. There are times when she is sore that I go easy on it or we skip it entirely, but I imagine that once our youngest is weaned it will be occurring basically every time we have sex. I don't know that either of our attitudes about breast play changed when she started breastfeeding, except to be more aware of their current condition and respecting that.

I do some clamps and some jewelry. The jewelry is really cute, little rings (as My Man doesn't want me to get my nipples pierced) with beads on them, but they don't stay on really well. Cute, though.

I have some clamps. The Fresh Nipple Clamps. I did a review of them recently and a video. review and video of Fresh Nipple Clamps

I like them, but I like full pressure, rather than the electric pin point stimulation these clamps provide. They are a nice set of clamps, though. They have their use.

Thanks - I'm going down the jewelry route - but your right, I'm expecting it'll be hard for her to keep them on - I'm just hoping she has some fun with it - a little roll play.

actually, having my daughter did change how I felt about my breasts, a lot. while I wasn't able to breast feed, and my milk dried up quickly, my breasts did not return to their former glory. they seem to be affected by gravity a lot more now. my hubby says he loves them still. When it comes to breast play, I can't really say I went back to liking it. he doesn't pay that much attention to them anyways.

This completely depends on the woman. I myself birthed two beautiful babies. Breast fed for almost 2 years total, and if my ladies are ignored it annoys the piss out of me. I also think it has something to do with breast size. From my experience, women with smaller breasts enjoy breast play more. Again, this is completely dependent on the women. There is no one size fits all for breasts nor foreplay. So sorry.

Hahaha! That is true. And a lot of them are complete assholes. I wonder why the ones with only a brain in their dick even exist at all. Women are not items, and we shouldn't judge a woman by her breast size.

Xavier7 - it's because for what ever reason many women make the questionable decision to bear children with men who think with their little brain.

Why is that girls?

bra less! bras are brought on my society, and were invented by men. the natural form is more appealing. ok, i wear them in the bedroom for fun occasionally just to have a matching outfit.

nudity is not directly related to sexuality, and I find it offensive that here in the US men can go topless in public and i can't

i apologize if my post is not on track with this thread, i'm really not sure

Bras may have been invented by men - but if you have 32 g/h size breasts like my wife, you're damn glad they did. When you've got that kind of rack - you need a comfortable way to keep them from becoming knee knockers!

I think it's interesting to point out that humans have evolved to have much larger breasts (in proportion) to other primates. We've also evolved to have much larger penises than other primates. This would suggest that these body areas have long been "fetishized" by humans, and that we've therefore selectively bred ourselves to make these parts of the body larger.

Not everyone enjoys breast-play, but there certainly seem to be nerves in the breasts that attach to the groin (at least in some people). Personally, I can orgasm just from nipple-play alone (and I have very large breasts, so bang goes that theory!). I don't think it's just societal: a lot of us find great sexual pleasure in our breasts.
