Don't know if this is or is not MYTH catagory, since I KNOW it can be done.....URETHRAL sex?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
There is one porn star...the amazing "TY" and her other co-stars, that insert things (and men) into their urethra's, which have been VERY stretched. I don't think there is any camera tricks going on...there are some crazy close ups.

Is this just the realm of a TINY, TINY few folks on the fringe or is anyone else able to have sex with their urethral opening?

I know some people insert things into their urethra's and they sell "sounds" (probes) that go into there....but having had a kidney stone, I think it would HURT. I don't see the "sexuality" in it at all.

However, to each his and her own...SO, my question. Do YOU have any sex play that involves insertion of ANYTHING into your urethra? Do you ever have anything as large as a penis in there???

I don't think I'd be into that.. or my husband. I do like to vibrate my urethra, though.

The idea is an immediate squick for me. If other people want to, go for it! But for me, pleaseno.

I also have had several kidney stones, and all I have to say is ouch! This makes me cringe just thinking about it!

Although I think that it is possible for you to stretch out the urethra to fit something as large as a penis into it, it is not healthy to do so. You will become extremely susceptible to UTIs and other infections. Also, you would have to be extremely careful about what you do put in there, because any contaminates can cause severe infections, even necrosis (death of the tissue) and lead to complications. Because there is no real sensitivity to the inner linings of the urethra itself, I don't see why this would be pleasurable at all. The opening does have nerve endings, and I can understand the concept of playing with/vibrating the outer opening...but to actually do something like that? Big no no!

Not to mention if you already don't have/aren't prone to stones, you could build up enough deposits in that area to CAUSE them!

I have heard some crazy stories and seen some insane things in this category. First, I read this true story from an ER staff member about a woman who came in with chronic incontinence due to frequent urethral sex. There is a commenter who posted a response to this story about urethral sex in his own relationship. Then, I found the website of pornstar The Amazing Ty. That's some scary stuff! I don't know how people do these things and not get sick or injured.

Urethral sounding goes on in the kink community, but you have to be VERY careful. That tissue is fragile AND, like others have said, you can give yourself some serious infections. All of the urethral sounds have to be sterilized before they can be inserted, and it's really something you only do if you've been trained. It's possible, but for the average person, not so doable.

Those sounds are very, very tiny though. I can not imagine (nor have I seen a sound) the size of a penis being inserted.

Based on my medical knowledge (I'm going into medical school) this sounds EXTREMELY bad for your body. But I realize that never changes how some people behave. There is no nerve endings in the urethra, just at the clitoris, which is close enough to the urethral opening. It's dangerous to do by yourself unless you have proper instruction. If you tear your urethra it could be toxic for your body (causing stones, infections, or ketone uptake which is deadly if it accumulates in high enough concentrations). I would not recommend doing this at all. There are plenty of other ways to play and change it up...don't try to make this one of them.

I am certainly familiar with "sounding" although never wanted to try it and neither have any man I have been with.

Alfred Kinsey (the sex researcher) actually was a huge fan of sounding during masturbation and later during sex. He used the end of an old toothbrush and supposedly had a huge urethral opening in which he would place all sorts of objects. Uh....

Mileage and all that.

Um, I have to disagree. I'm a nurse and there certainly are nerve endings in the urethra. Have you ever been catheterized? It's hurts like HELL! I've seen grown men cry from the procedure. Even when Viscous Xylocaine was used on the Foley cath. (That's a local numbing agent that is often used to make catheterization a bit less horrible.) If there were no nerves in the urethra, you wouldn't know when you were urinating. And UTIs, with urethral involvement wouldn't hurt (and OMG, do they ever!)

I've had chronic urethritis, along with UTIs that required surgery and the pain, coming from the urethra, before and after the surgery was worse than childbirth! It took nearly a year to heal, and the pain took about that long to subside.

Yes, I agree, inserting things into the urethra without sterilization and without knowing what you are doing is not wise, as Kayla said.

Thanks for posting this. When I first read that post, I was like, "What?" It didn't make sense to me. I have never been catheterized, but I've been told it hurts. Also, it would be pointless for anyone to insert anything in the urethra if there was no sensation in that part of the body.

That's what I was thinking, majoy risk for UTI's!!!!!

I have seen a porn where a thin dildo the size of a finger was inserted in a womans urethra and I was freaked out by how big her urethra was.

If ever some kids see this porn, what will they think?!?!?! I hope no one new to sex decides to try this not knowing the risks. I hope this doesn't become something "popular"

I once saw a short video of a woman inserting a traditional vibrator into a man's penis. It was interesting to see (and, I'll admit, a little bit of a turn-on), but the idea of actually doing it just about makes me faint. I'd never do it (or have it done) to myself, and I don't think I could do it to another person.

It's kind of funny, though: before I used a mirror to look at my nethers, I was almost completely unaware of the existence of my vagina (okay, I knew it was there, I just never saw it or touched it until then), and thought that my urethra was my vagina. The idea that a penis was supposed to fit in there horrified me. When I finally did see my vag, I was like, "Oh, in there... That makes a lot more sense."
