Reactions to "I'm bi"

Contributor: Sammix3 Sammix3
I've told many people that I'm bi. Guys always want me to get with a girl, and I've had several girls be like "all up on me". I think it shouldn't matter if I'm bi, I'll let you know what I want. I have a boyfriend and I am happy. Jeez. Does anyone else have this happen?

Very few people know about me, but the most major reaction was from my BFFL. He suddenly acted like I was going to start trying to grab his junk or something. Good grief!

I have had people be like, oh ok. And then one made me like a Hallmark-style greeting card haha. But people that i've told still try to avoid the subject, which is frustrating for me because I think talking about it with others would help me come to terms with it myself, but I'm not the type to bring it up if I think it would make someone uncomfortable.

I totally feel the same way! There are all sorts of issues people can talk about to help ease the inner turmoil. This needs to be in that category! Unfortunately it's so hard to change people's minds.

This is something I've been concerned about, but I haven't told anyone other than a few very close friends. I'm mostly worried about reactions in the professional environment.

I try to avoid telling people unless I know I can trust them, because sometimes women won't look at me the same way, and men will be all gross and start rambling about how they wish I would be in a threesome with them or kiss girls while they watch. Because apparently they think that my orientation is just a performance for them or that I must want multiple partners at the same time because I "go both ways"

It depends on your environment. If you know the people well enough to gauge their reactions you can go from there. If you don't know them well enough to predict their response, it can be dicey.
