Do you use dental dams?

I'd never be able to use one, I'm allergic to latex XD. But in all seriousness, I wouldn't use one. Instead, I'd get the both of us tested if I have a female friend with benefits.

Never. I'm in a monogamous relationship, and it's not needed. I've never liked them though. Not a fan. In a discussion with my boyfriend I mentioned them recently and he had never heard of them. I have to explain what they can be used to and what they look like, and why they are used, etc.

Nope, only used one once.

I've never used one. My current relationship is the first that I've actually gone as far as actually skin to skin contact, and she an I are both each other's first partners and both clean, so we've never used any sort of protection.

The short answer is, no. The long answer is, heck no! does anyone??

Have you ever read the effing dykes blog link about dental dams? I cracks me up every time and is so true.

I like the idea of them, but I'm in a long term relationship and my guy said he likes not using them.

As a general rule I always use condoms and dental dams when I'm with a new partner who hasn't been tested. I hate using oral barriers so I usually make a date with my partner to get us both tested so we can stop the barriers. Its better to use them though then to risk an infection.

I love rimming my GF even though she's still a bit queasy about me doing that. I've bought some dental dams for when she can work up the nerve to rim me.

Tried it once with my current GF (we're fluid-bonded), said "yuck!" and never used it again

For rimming, definitely. (Or even the cheapo option where you split open a glove.) I agree with the above posts that they ought to be more readily available & not a specialty item (straight people can use 'em too!).

Never, but since I found out about them I've only slept with one person and we've both been tested before and after starting to shag.

I actually didn't ever see a dental dam until I began volunteering in young LGBT people's sexual health...

I never have. Know I should if I'm going to sleep with someone I'm not in a fluid-bonded relationship with but...I really don't like the idea

I am fluid-bonded with one of my partners and have not yet had oral sex with the other, so dental dam use hasn't been necessary for me at this point. I always keep condoms, gloves, and dental dams on hand, however - and lube, of course.

I don't use dental dams, BUT I've really only been in long term committed relationships.

I only recently learned about them and haven't had sex with a woman since - but because I'm much more educated on safe sex and the such now I will use them from now on if/when the situation arises. So, the answer to that question would be that I have never used them, no, but I will be.

I've tried it but don't really like it. I just avoid oral sex right now.

Maybe mouthwash as a compromise? It does have anti-bacterial properties...

I use dental dams, though it took me a while to get started with them (I just didn't perform oral on girls/didn't have oral performed on me until I did). In my country, you just can't find them unless you're getting the kind dentists use... unflavoured, thick nasty ones (seriously, it's like licking a balloon). Fortunately, those come in fifty-packs and that way, wind up being cheaper than condoms. And there's always flavoured lube. ^^U

I'll be honest; they're hard to use and keep things sexy at the same time. You need to develop some very specific skills to use them effectively while going down on someone, and there are new rules of bedroom etiquette to learn (the most important one: the one being eaten out is the best suited to hold it in place so you can use your hands to give pleasure to your girl too).

But with practise, you get used to them. It's like condoms; a couple decades ago they were taboo and everybody hated them, but despite whining from some immature jerks, people do use them regularly now. Hopefully dental dams will improve with time to the point they're readily available and much easier and nicer to use.

I am in one of those fluid bonding long term relationships. She was tested before we did anything thoug, since I was still a virgin. Before then we had discussed dental dams, but decided that it was just too fuckin awkward to do, so we waited until after she got tested

I've never used them because I've never found anywhere that sold them. I'd certainly try them out for something like rimming, just to reduce the 'ick' factor.

Non-microwaveable saran/plastic wrap has proven to be far superior in terms of maneuverability, coverage, texture, and even aesthetics in my experience. Ultimately, though, I prefer going down on a partner who knows their status and can receive oral sex without barriers and without risk of STI transmission.
