Do you want to get married?

Contributor: carenautilus carenautilus
Not to me, obviously.

My girlfriend and I really do. We've even decided what kind of dress I'm wearing and what the wedding colors will be. As soon as California stops being so annoying, we're gonna go get our schmoopy newlyweds act on.

What about you? Do you want to get married, someday? Or do live in a place that lets you? If so, I am officially jealous.

I used to be in open relationships, and I was dating a woman who was married to a man, and I was married to a man, but we agreed that if the state ever allowed us to marry two people and also allowed us to marry in general, being two women, we would do it! We split up because the long distance was so difficult on both of us, but we still have feelings for each other. But we would've done it, had we been allowed.

I want an invite, or at least pictures!! Good luck honey! One day those idiots will get overturned and you'll get to share your day like the rest of us "Old married folks!"
Did they overturn it again in S.F.? I know at one point you could legally get married in the city up there, but then it was retracted. I thought perhaps it was reinstated again.

I'd like to eventually get married.. but I am in no rush to do so. Our relationship is pretty solid so nothing would really change by getting married, just that we might accumulate some wicked debt for having the wedding.

My boyfriend knows I fully intend to marry him, lol. It has been discussed a lot, but he was married previously and the marriage was even worse than the divorce! So I'm being patient, his fear is that I'll change after marriage like his ex did (they rushed into it), so I'm more than willing to show him that after a few years of being together and living together, I plan to still treat with the same ooey gooey mushy sappy spoiling that I always have! Once engaged, I want a 2-year engagement, so that we have plenty of time to plan something nice, but tasteful and that we can afford and have saved up for.

Ah, you're too sweet! I'll totally spam the entire EF community with zillions of pictures! It's still illegal to get married anywhere in California, but there is a case going to the supreme court which may overturn prop 8, and thus make same sex marriage legal.

I'm definitely planning on marrying my girlfriend one day. She actually asked me if I ever thought on what I wanted in a wedding and I said, "I'm not picky, as long as I get to look like a princess and you're there too, marrying me of course." -grin-

I'm not sure. I'm not really a marrying person, so probably not.

I dont think marriage is in my cards/or Im not ready yet. I have a really hard time with it. I think that if two people are going to make that commitment it should be forever. (thus vows) But people all around me have ruined it. Couples that get married bc "its the next step" or they have kids, the lesbian friends I have overdid it, they have been "married like 3 or 4 times" what!!??!!??
I had an 11 yr relationship prior to my current one, I never even pretended to be into marriage. She knew up front where I stood, and if she wanted to get married, it would not be to me

If I found the right person I would do it, but a lifetime is a long time and vows are serious to me. If someone cheated I could NEVER be with them, what if I got married and they cheated/ under those vows I would have to work it out, just bc they break a vow doesnt mean I get to......

CONGRATS on finding your one and only, it is wonderful when 2 people really LOVE each other and are able take that step.
