Never tried it, but I've actually met people in long-lasting, happy relationships that started from Craigslist. Just be careful!

My old roommate did this and found a girl she thought she was compatible with. It lasted almost a month and she didn't use craigslist again after that. I have heard of stories where this method worked out great though, so best of luck to you! You never know until you try, right?

Craigslist is basically online dating, which tons of people are doing now. Especially lesbians. It seems like Autostraddle is writing a new article about OKCupid every other week. In fact, I met one of my exes online (not on a dating site, it's a funny story) and we had a pretty good relationship that lasted for a few months. It works for some people.
The sketch factor is still there, though. As always, make sure to be careful, let someone know where you're going, and meet up in a very public place. Go for it, you'll be fine.

I've done it but used a different site (okcupid). There have been some great experiences and some less great. I think that the advantage with okc though is that you have a lot more information available prior to hooking up with someone than on CL.

Never done it personally, I've heard it can be dangerous. But that could be said for other online sites also.

Maybe a few years ago, but now Craigslist is a collection of scary folks. Maybe that's only unique to my city, but I wouldn't do it here.

I'm a big fan of OkC, and met many a woman through that site, back in the day. Just listen to your intuition, and meet in a public place. Look for any little thing the person lied about online. You may have a lot of fun, even if you don't meet your true love!

I do think of finding someone on craigslist could be risky but then again you can meet creeps anywhere. However, there are a number of free dating sites online that I'd personally look to first for that stuff...
