Toys require work. I think it depends on what yall like doing outside of sex. If you are a huge fan of chocolate, like me, try adding that to the bedroom. Or library fantasy. It really depends on the people involved.

Agree with everything said about communication.

Also, foreplay, emphasis on the /play/, can be fun!! Laugher/giggles, combined with sexy touching/ kisses is a great way to start off a sex session. The idea is to get relaxed, comfortable and horny :3
