Gustavadolphus made a point that the title of this forum isn't exactly accurate, and I agree! The staff is fully willing to change the name of it if we as the EF trans community can all decide on a more appropriate name. While I'm not terribly picky with this sort of thing, I'm putting in my vote for "Trans* Discussion", since I know a lot of people prefer the trans with an * because it's the most inclusive, and "discussion" because not everything we talk about here is necessarily an "issue" If you have other suggestions than the poll options, please do post them! And please do rate and critique (FRIENDLY critique please) why you would/would not choose certain titles.

I'm not including things like "transsexual issues" because not everyone in this forum is by definition transsexual, this should be as inclusive as possible. Yes some of these options are silly/cheesy/whatever but I tried to get as many in as possible. Vote for all the ones you'd be ok with seeing as the new forum title!

I didn't know this! Awesome. I think "Gender discussion" or "Transgender Issues" would be good.

I don't really like "Sex and Gender Discussion" because that might seem to cis people like a space to discuss their gender roles in sex etc. instead of a space for trans* people. I think having a space specifically labeled for discussion of trans* related things is really valuable.

I like Trans* Talk or Gender Spectrum. Trans* Issues makes it sound like there's always a problem that needs to be discussed, it just feels more negative.

I choose Trans* Issues, Trans*talk and Sex and Gender Discussion, but Lildrummrgurl7 kind of brings up a good point: putting the word "issues" in there makes it sounds like theres always a problem. I would much rather have the title inclue those who do not fall into the gender binary get get more awareness and be able to feel comfortable having their voices heard so i really like the title to be inclusive of that which is why i lean toward the trans with an *'s title or Sex and Gender in the title as it encompasses those people too.
I'm glad the forum is going to be getting a new name though! it's very dated and needed to be done. But i definitely want to see a title that will include all trans* identifying people, not just the men and women.

I don't like Trans* Issues, necessarily, but I like the thought of putting Trans* Discussion, or even Gender and Sex Discussion.

i noticed trans*talk is taking off, which im totally down for, but i m wondering how many votes will be made before this becomes a reality? are you shooting for 100 or just waiting to find a happy medium before asking staff to make the finally change to the title.

I sent the poll to one of the Admins, we're just waiting for them to change it, I'd be really surprised if something suddenly took off after Trans* Talk got so many votes so we'll call it good.

Definitely not shooting for 100, I doubt there's even 100 transfolk on Eden who use the forums, and not all of them will vote, we were just looking for what the majority liked.

awesome! and good point, i just wasnt sure if there was a minimum of voters or replies you wanted before talking to admins, but im excited about the change!

i agree that that might sound like a gender roles thing. i do think "trans" should be in the title. I'll be glad though to see the ridiculous word "transgendered" gone! lol

as a few others mentioned, i don't like "issues". it seems negative.

i wouldn't mind "and allies" or something similar being worked into the title somewhere.

Yeah, the url didn't change, and the name you see at the top of your browser (at least on Firefox) is still "transgendered issues".
