The American Red Cross was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton. But, did you know that this was a result of her going overseas for a vacation and seeing the International Red Cross Society in action? Being a teacher all of her life, she wanted to bring this valuable resource to her fellow Americans. To date, there are over 650 chapters across the nation and 36 blood services locations.
