Have a HAPPY and SAFE St. Patrick's Day 2012. Do you plan to DRINK HEAVY, Limit what you drink, or NOT drink at all, this St. Patrick's Day.

Where I live we have a lovely morning service..a religious rite. Then a very FAMILY friendly parade. Then, sadly, the "holiday" turns into a booze fest, with multiple alcohol related "bad events" happening, EVERY year.

SO...what are YOUR plans for drinking on St. Pat's Day???

I plan on having sleep over company for me and my love and all of us getting crunk as a mug together.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I don't drink. Not even on St. Paddy's day.

Sometimes I have a glass of champagne on New Year's Eve. But, other than that, and using wine in cooking, I don't use alcohol.

We are having Reuben sandwiches for dinner, as neither of us have the desire to make an entire corned beef just for the two of us. (One child moved out. One child a vegetarian. One child very picky and wouldn't eat it.)

I'm going to go to a friends house for a party. I plan on drinking, but not getting full-on drunk, and I have someone else to drive me.

We're having Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup for dinner tonight. I'm an English "mutt" and my boyfriend can trace most of his origins to the Norwegian sector of the world. No need to celebrate an Irish holiday here.

Where we live, EVERYONE celebrates St Patrick's Day...the Koreans, Chinese, Europeans, and Native Americans included. Everyone wears green, goes to the parades....etc. etc.

WOW...P'Gell, once again we have a LOT in common. We don't drink either. NOT some religious or AA thing either!!! Just never did. Neither did our parents or families. Once or twice a year we MIGHT have a single glass of wine if others are, at a dinner. Once during the summer I might have a strawberry daiquiri, but it will last all afternoon. That is about the sum total of our consumption. I DO cook and bake with Baileys or Amaretto, but I "burn off" the alcohol, so it doesn't really count. Neither of us ever cared for beer or other booze, so there you go!!!!

St. Patrick's day is almost bigger than Christmas for my family.

We started our day with Irish coffees, and then at about 10 am, our designated drivers took us to downtown Atlanta for beers at Fado's. We were planning to go to the parade, but traffic was insane, so we all headed back home to celebrate. I spent the rest of the day sitting on the back patio, smoking pipes and drinking beer, talking to my dad all day. It was amazing.

We played a trivia game, made corned beef and irish sodabread, toasted with a few shots of Bailey's, and called it a night. We might have been drinking all day, but at no point was anyone noticeably tipsy. We just enjoyed the day as a happy Irish family. My family is really close, and we love to talk about ideas and opinions. We talked about politics, religion, sex, video games, movies, and whatever else we could think of.

Happy Day!
