Get one from the back yard (about 10 acres), did it last year with the kids and they thought it was so cool! After we take it down I will put it in next years wood pile.
Did this when I was a kid, so I like to think I am carrying on the tradition.

I know there's something awesome about having the real tree, but honestly, unless it's in my yard, there's something much more awesome about not having to clean up after it, lol

Well, we don't chop it down from our back yard but my apartment always has an 8 foot christmas tree sitting in the living room.
We do tie it to the hood of the car and drive it home.
But, no, it's never fallen off, yet, but every year I'm afraid it will slide down the hood

We started using a fake one so that we can put it up right before Thanksgiving, so that it looks nice when people come over for Thanksgiving and leave it up til after New Year's.

I voted real, but we actually do one of each since we have so many ornaments. The real goes in the family room with the gifts while the fake sits in the front window for people outside to enjoy.

Always had a real tree growing up.

Well half of it is swamp, but that has its own value, no neighbors on three sides for a mile.

Plus I'd have to go all chop happy on a tree and really it better for me to let it live and get me a cheap fake one that I can put away to collect dust each year!

Real. Always bought from a lot or grocery store while I lived in Florida. (Some neighbors simply decorated their palm trees with lights.) I tried a 3-foot fake tree while living with my ex, but it was never the same.
The best was when I lived in Montana in the Bitterroot Valley. Residents were allowed to buy a $5 permit from the national forest and go into the mountains to chop a tree (it was part of the forest thinning program). You had to have four-wheel-drive to get into the mountains (the roads started icing and snowing as far back as September), and it sort of became a party for two or three families to go up the roads and get their trees that way. They were never 'tree farm' pretty, but they were part of the Bitterroot Character - scruffy and strong. After getting it home, the trimmings from it were enough to make fresh wreaths or swags for the front door.

Ya, I'd rather just buy one nice fake tree and have it for 20 years than have to get a new fresh tree each year.

At my house we have 2 6' tall light up palm trees in the front yard that we usually wrap with garland or something festive for Christmas

I grew up with fake trees. I think I've only had 1 or 2 real trees and ever since I've lived apart from my parents it has been fake. It helps that my dad bought me a nice fake tree for my first christmas out on my own.

I save one tree every year by putting up my artificial tree. I just pop a pine scented tart into my tart burner

I can't remember our family ever having a real one. I know my parents really didnt like them, so we always used our fake one. That fake tree is kind of a family keepsake, at this point.
I now have my own little 3 foot tree. He's baby pink, lights up, and I put my favorite postcards from the year on him. My best friend says thats pyschokiller talk but I think its cute.

Normally a real tree that I cut down myself - Ok, I wander around for an hour, point at the one I want, and my boyfriend cuts it down and brings it home, but still No tree this year though, I'm driving to S.C. to see my mom so there won't be anyone at the house to enjoy it!

We've always had fake trees, and that's what we have this year too

I have never had a real one. Mom was always panicked about them being a fire hazard.
I live in a building and real trees are not allowed. so fake it is.

Our apartment doesn't allow a tree, but if it did, it'd be fake all the way. Real ones shed, have bugs, and god knows what else. I prefer my fake tree. Plus, I can get my fake tree in all sorts of rockin' colors like black.

I have always loved real trees at Christmas time. They give off a really good smell and since I was little, I enjoyed putting it up and decorating it with family!

i used to have a fake tree until last year. i have 3 kitties and last year we got our 3rd kitty and we found out he loves (he is only 1 1/2 now) climbing and chewing the fake tree even with that sour apple spray and pepper mix on the fake branches. now we cant even have a tree cause of our terror Max. But for the 3 years prior Zim (aka Zimmy) and Gir did not bother the fake tree.lol

Every year my family has a real tree. Last Christmas my Grandparents brought home a tree that had been sprayed with some kind of chemical or fragrance that made me sneeze all during my Christmas break. It sucked balls.
